To expect DDs father to look after them for a week whilst I go on holiday?

OK, the story so far.

I booked a weeks holiday with my 2 best friends in August of last year, knowing that I had 11 months to organise childcare whilst I am away. I told exH that I was going on holiday, so he would need to look after his children for a week. I assumed that given 11 months notice this would be acceptable. He agreed and said that should be fine.

Knowing that he conveniently forgets things occasionally, I have reminded him every few weeks since. He has now turned round and said that he is looking for another job (he worked for our family business until now) so he might not be able to get the time off work to have the girls.

Am I being unreasonable to think he is being a total dick?

Not at all. He's a dick.

But there is no legal obligation on men ever to see their children as I know only too well. I just have to assume 100% of the time he won't have them which I suppose makes it simpler.

Agree Xenia there isn't, but as he sees them once a week anyway it's not like he's a stranger to them grrr

He's being a total arse, and as he's had 11 months warning with frequent reminders he should look for a new job after the holiday not before. Can you speak to his parents about this and see if they can help? they might babysit or tell him to get his priorities in order?

Most employers will honour holidays you already have booked when you start with them. Just tell him to make sure he tells them about that week if he's offered a job
