To think moving the goalposts with GCSEs is bound to stress teens out

Teens are constantly being put under pressure and to my mind the new GCSE gradings and uncertainty around it all would increase anyones anxiety. I know there are other factors too but adding extra layers of difficulty (grade 9 for example) is just bound to lead to stress. So why is the government seemingly so mystified about why teens are stressed.

Teens have always been stressed. GCSEs are important and some stress is good to focus the mind and get the bone idle screen addicts to study.

Agree that teens have always been stressed by GCSEs.....dd did them earlier this year and I don't think found the already changed maths and English worse than the others.

I think the changes went over her head to be honest. I was more stressed as the teachers especially in English but also in maths seemed a lot more unsure about grade predictions than in other subjects and were marking mocks harshly.
