We got home at 9am after 21hr travelling back from honeymoon with only two hours sleep (Had a little nap so up to 5hr). AIBU to not want to go to last-minute dinner for YB who is leaving for uni in the morning?

Is he going to uni far away?

bigchris · 20/09/2017 16:58

Younger brother ?
Aw if he wants you there I'd try tbh

PotteringAlong · 20/09/2017 16:59

Yes. Make the effort.

2 hours drive so far but not too far. We're hoping to visit in a couple of weeks depending on DH's shifts.

Tbh, had a sneaking suspicion this was a 'FML why cant you plan in advance' sleepy brain complaint coupled with other stuff. Guess I've gotta go wake the bear (aka. DH).

Is the dinner 2 hours drive away or the university?

MissBabbs · 20/09/2017 17:04

I would ask DB first. If it is just the DPs wanting the grand send off and fuss don't go. If DB genuinely wants all this then go.

MrsHampshire2017 · 20/09/2017 17:05

Sorry - uni is two hours away. Dinner is at the parent's house about 30 mins away. We're gonna go and make sure we leave before 9.

Also - guilty confession here so please don't judge - the idea of not having to go shopping for food right now has factored into this decision.

Go, eat, wish DB well, then leave as soon as is decently possible citing jet lag as your reason for leaving .... have fun.

Slimthistime · 20/09/2017 17:27

he's going to uni, not the moon.

no need for you to go. Get some kip!

Leaving at 9 would BU. It's a big milestone. Being tired from a holiday would be a poor excuse to miss it or leave that early.

Aintgotnosoapbox · 20/09/2017 17:33

Just go , it's your brother , your post seems a bit heartless

PinkHeart5913 · 20/09/2017 17:34

For my brother Yes I would! Going to uni is a huge thing and should be marked

Honestly, these posts....! I love my sister to bits and when she went travelling I was emosh because a few months would pass before I could see her, but she was on the other side of the world and there was no skype etc then.
