To have some wine right now? (boob scare-related)

Had mammogram about 10 days ago. Have been recalled for further tests 'you may like to bring a friend or relative with you, please allow up to 5 hours for this appointment' next week.

Gulp.

Backstory: I am 52. I found a lump in Autumn 2012, which was removed in Feb 2013 and was 'benign breast changes'. I can't feel anything wierder than normal in either tit but....

If you feel a glass of wine will help then go for it (so long as you don't need to drive anywhere). Maybe some chocolate too.

Drink the booze, girl. Stay positive.

Incidentally, I got the same 'allow 5 hours, bring a relative or friend' message this summer, post mammogram. I don't think it's an indicator of seriousness, necessarily, just standard practice. I asked why the long duration, and apparently it anticipates possible delays and staff shortages, so that you can make sure that you put enough money in the parking machine!

Ah, thanks, that would make sense (I'll be going on the bus and by myself anyway as I don't drive.)

I'm remembering what DS' dad (and my mum) said last time - if there was anything really worrying happening, they wouldn't have left it a week to get in touch. So it's either scar tissue from the previous op or another little harmless bump like last time, I expect.

Correct. If they were really worried, you'd be there now. Best of luck.

I just had my first boob scare and this involved my first mammogram ever. No lumps just felt wrong.

Turns out to be lots of tiny cysts that clumped together and looked like a mass. Hopefully the same for you.

Well, been in and been done. They were lovely and explained it all thoroughly - they found some small calcium deposits in the boob, which are usually harmless but always need exploring. So, mammogram, ultrasound and then the Horrid Hole Punch, but they do not think it's going to be anything to worry about: they just like to be thorough.

Now feeling a bit sore and forlorn but at least it's done with.

The hole punch is nasty, isn't it? Glad it went well for you.
