To have changed my Amazon password?

We have Prime. None of my siblings or my parents do. I mean, why would they when they can just log into mine?

Over the years they've all had my password so they can order something for next day delivery. I didn't mind at the time but now it's just become a regular thing, and where they used to send me a courtesy text to let me know they no longer bother.

So all my suggestions are ballsed up (no, I don't want climbing rope, bike repair stuff or Jeremy Clarkson's latest book). And it often defaults to one of their addresses so I have to be careful when I order (which is frequently, hence having Prime).

They also use it for the telly stuff, which again cocks up my suggestions.

The kicker is that I've said why don't we all pay a tenner each for it and they've all said no.

So I've changed the password. And it the last week have had irate texts from my two youngest siblings. One even phoned my DH at work because I said he knew it and I didn't yes that was a cop out.

Aibu? They say as I'm paying for it anyway they may as well use it. Am I just being selfish, really? It's not actually that big of a deal but it annoys me.

I didn't say Amazon didn't care. I said the OP and her family don't care.

BertrandRussell · 20/09/2017 14:36

My dd and her flat mates use my Amazon Prime. I'm pleased because the less money I give Amazon the better. No skin off my nose.

Why have a prime account if you dont want to give Amazon any money?

OP yanbu. Let them pay for it themselves.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 20/09/2017 14:43

Bertrand beat me to it. Don't want to add to their revenue but Amazon is irritatingly convenient Grin. Why not have one Prime account for the whole of the UK? Come on OP, give us the password Grin

BertrandRussell · 20/09/2017 14:46

"Why have a prime account if you dont want to give Amazon any money?"

Because it's actually cheaper overall to pay for Prime.

LagunaBubbles · 20/09/2017 14:48

Oh is it, I had no idea!

Cheeky fuckers! My brother and sister share a prime account but they split costs 50:50 and all parcels go to my brother as they live very near eachother and he works part time.

Tell them to pay up or fuck off.

Puppymouse · 20/09/2017 14:55

Me and my sister use DM's account because she has prime. But we were invited to at her suggestion. If she had a problem with it I'd stop immediately.

butterfly56 · 20/09/2017 15:05

Definitely done the right thing there OP.
Jut go in and clean up your account and delete all their addresses etc
They're CFs anyway!

LisaMed1 · 20/09/2017 15:09

The way I see it, if you're ordering so much from Amazon then it's worth paying less than £10 per month and get your own account. Most people can swing that, and the amount you save in postage pays for it pretty quickly.

weeblueberry · 20/09/2017 15:13

You can definitely have family members set up. I think you're all meant to be part of one household though...?

Either way my DP, DSis and DM are on mine...

Ilovemyhotwaterbottle · 20/09/2017 16:18

YANBU

Just tell them you've decided to cancel it to save money and they can set up their own accounts.

YANBU

Clear out their payment details too - all their cards and addresses.

Haffiana · 20/09/2017 17:06

My immediate family all have Prime as part of my Prime. It is a family thing - mine was set up years ago, everyone was invited to join so everyone has their own account with their own payment and their own addresses, and there is no crossover. The only thing is they do not get to use is Prime Video.

Have a look at your Prime account there is a share button. I know the rules are different now, but that is the way to go if you want to share.

allertse · 20/09/2017 17:17

I'd be tempted to one-click order a couple of things for yourself charged to their card... that might show them the virtues of having their own account!

alltouchedout · 20/09/2017 17:20

There is some sort of sharing thing you can do details here but I don't think I'd want to given how entitled and snotty your family are being
