To say it is possible

(Although rare) for a woman in their early 30's to still look between 17-20 years old? My colleagues say it is impossible but I don't agree and know someone who really does look 17 at 33 years old.

Course it is. I'm 33 and often get asked for ID. But my mum and nan could both pass for 20 years younger than they are so it must be good genes

jaseyraex · 19/09/2017 17:14

Of course its possible. I'm 26 but get ID'd buying alcohol, including when I've got the kids with me. Cashiers often say they thought I was a teen mum 🙄
DH gets it more than I do. He's 32 but often people think he's in his late teens. Constantly has customers at work telling him he's too young to be the manager.

Shakey15000 · 19/09/2017 17:18

I looked about 18 right up to my early 30's. Got married and it all went downhill Grin

user1471546851 · 19/09/2017 17:22

I'm 27 and I get asked for I'd all the time too
We had new furniture delivered last year and I answered the door and was home alone as DH was in work and the delivery man asked me if my mum or dad were home! Grin

I have never been petite or slim. Tall, broad and (once upon a time!) lean. At first, because of my height I looked older than my age, so I seemed to be 16 for nearly ten years. Then I never seemed to get beyond 20 for another ten years, which was when I began appreciating it.

Then I had dc, and it all went downhill from there. I look my age now.

So, yes, a woman in her 30s, who hasn't had children and has had a healthy life, could look to be in her late teens.

Runaways01 · 19/09/2017 17:30

Everyone on MN claims to look younger than their actual age!

Yep.

All the people who look young for their age can I just ask what age you're given by how-old.net? I know it's not 100% accurate, I'm just interested.

My auntie is 36 and doesn't look a day over 18... quite literally

purplemunkey · 19/09/2017 18:05

Just tried how-old.net and got varying ages of 26, 38 & 47 from photos taken in the last few weeks. I wouldn't give it much credence!

Sienna333 · 19/09/2017 18:28

Tina O'Brien (Sarah Lou in Corrie) is 34! Still looks 17/18!

Runaways01 I got two 19s and a 21.

ZerbaPadnaTigre · 19/09/2017 19:05

I think age is very difficult to judge in passing. I get mistaken for a teenager a lot. I don't look young. I'm just small and badly dressed. When it comes to being IDed in supermarkets or wherever, staff definitely go with 'better safe than sorry'. Most of the people ID are in their 20s.

ZerbaPadnaTigre · 19/09/2017 19:06

That should say that most of the people that I ID are in their 20s.

StepAwayFromCake · 19/09/2017 19:07

How old.net is hilarious! GrinGrin

My 16yo (who shaves every 6w) comes out 22-25 every time.
My 10yo comes out 10 every time.

My friends and I come out anywhere from 20y younger to 20y older than our ages, and I've done each of us 4-5 times with different photos each time.

TwoKidsAndCounting · 19/09/2017 19:18

You don't grt ID'd in Tesco etc because you look under 18 it's because the computer system is automated to check randomly when alcohol is purchased

splatattack · 19/09/2017 19:21

I got ID'd for a scratch card at the weekend, I'm 32!!!!

MuddlingThroughLife · 19/09/2017 19:26

I last got ID'd two years ago....aged 40!

I miss getting ID'd. Must be looking like I'm getting on a bit now 😂

Foniks · 19/09/2017 21:19

Embarrassing, but definitely possible because I'm like that Blush
It's so horrible. Asked for ID for everything and have little boys trying to chat me up or students talking to me about college/uni.
A few weeks ago, a lady behind the counter who I showed my ID to was so shocked she called colleagues to come and look at my ID. In front of me. Or people talk about how mature and well spoken i am, probably assuming I'm quite young. I'm 30, so not quite 33 yet, but doubt I'll age 10 years in 3.
My dad looks very very young for his age too, so probably genetic, because I eat crap and smoke and it hasn't aged me yet.
I'm short, not petite, but have a young face.

I remember when I was about 14/15 talking to a youth worker thinking she was my age and new to the youth club too haha. She looked really really young and had a young girls voice too.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 19/09/2017 21:35

A few weeks ago, a lady behind the counter who I showed my ID to was so shocked she called colleagues to come and look at my ID.

Yep, happened to me too. Only they decided my driving licence must be fake and refused to serve me. So I showed them a second form of ID (my passport) and they still refused me Confused

LongWavyHair · 19/09/2017 21:39

I'm 27 and got ID'd for the lottery a few months ago. I didn't know whether to be like Grin or Hmm.

MyDobbygotgivenasock · 19/09/2017 21:54

I have a friend who looks very young, she has a very round soft shaped face, large eyes and a wonderful complexion - she really is baby soft, it's amazing - they're all characteristics that ping the 'child' parts in people's brain. She is also very petite.
Generally she has no real issue with polite mistakes, there have been a couple of very spiteful workplace run ins though that were upsetting, being a very accomplished and intelligent woman was offence enough, having the audacity to not look a certain way was a step too far.
I am sort of indeterminate age wise, I've looked very much older since I was about 14 and just keep on looking pretty much the same, so I've never really enjoyed looking youthful or looking back at old photos to see a young face but, if I follow the women in my family, I will hopefully get a bit of use out of it later when I still look like this in my 50s. Sadly it won't be for long as we go to bed one day looking the same and at some point in the night we get 15 years straight to the face and wake up like a crumpled chip paper. With chin hairs.
I don't really mind, it's everyone else who has to look at my face, not me!

HarryHarry · 19/09/2017 21:56

I'm 31 and my sister is 32. People think I'm her daughter and refer to me as 'that little girl' 😀

opheliacat · 19/09/2017 21:59

I'd say no, to be honest. It is certainly possible to look young, but not that young!

When guessing ages I always go about five years below what I actually think, so if someone looks about 40 I would say they looked around 35. I had someone say i looked about 25 which i took to mean I actualky looked thirtyish which I was pleased with (I'm 35!)

hana32 · 19/09/2017 22:04

Definitely possible. I'm early 30s and often get ID'd. If I don't wear make up people in general often mistake me for ten years younger.

GreatFuckability · 19/09/2017 22:04

Im 36 and the last time i told someone I had a 14 year old daughter she blurted 'did you have her when you were 4?!' It happens a lot. I'm not petite or anything, but i do have a 'baby face' i guess and i'm lucky to be wrinkle free. however when i don't get my roots done my hair gives me away as it thinks i'm 60 Grin.
