I don't want this to be a stealth boast or anything like that, but I am lying in bed like a little girl all overexcited. OH is out like a light and has had a virus all week, and I don't want to wake him up just for this (although he's been incredibly supportive over the three years we've been together and the five years we've been friends.)
I just feel so bloody proud of myself although I can't vocalise it in front of my friends as they're all graduates straight from school.
I just think the whole process was such a challenge for me, I'm normally much a defeatist and I encountered so much adversity over these last four years, from escaping an abysive partner, to having a friend murdered, to losing my grandad, being diagnosed with a physical disability, finding a new partner, sitting finals whilst pregnant with morning sickness, then losing a baby at 21w the day my final assignment was due.
I thought it would never end, and it's all over. I feel like I can take on the world.

If any of you lovely mymsnetters are contemplating a return to education I would say do it everyday. You'll be amazing

Thanks to anyone who read this. I just wanted to get it off my chest

Congratulations and very well done, all the best for your future success.

I expect you have fallen asleep by now, so this is just a tip for the future: when you feel 'overexcited' like that, and have no one convenient to talk to, get a pen and paper and just write out everything that is in you head. Don't try to structure what you are writing, just write what is at the top of your head, or in your heart. Keep writing til it is all you will fall asleep. You may fine yourself still wakeful: get going with the writing again. It must be the physical act of writing, rather than typing.

Eventually, you will have got it all down and then your brain will switch off and let you sleep.

Read what you have written when you have some time, then maybe structure it and write out the key point for yourself, its all good.

Fantastic, flipflop. And as it's AIBU, then no, YAdefinitelyNBU. I loved reading your post, it's so inspiring to read about women like you who overcome so much crap stuff in order to get themselves an education. I did my degree as a mature student, and I well remember that top-of-the-world feeling. I hope you have a brilliant day, you've more than earned it.

And because I'm a strictly fan, have some

Catinthecorner · 19/09/2017 13:23

Congratulations! And do tell your friends - I went to uni straight from school and would be so proud of a friend who did it as an adult - it's so much harder to juggle studying with real life adulting.

What's the dream career?
