AIBU to suggest to a man at the gym that he may have the clap

Last few weeks at the gym I've noticed one young lad evidently having problems with his lower regions. His hands are there more than on the weights so I assume he has some discomfort from an infection, or such like. Would it be unreasonable to discreetly leave the VD clinic phone number on a post it note on his bag, in case he hasn't thought about getting help yet? It's clearly really interfering with his life and not clearing up of its own accord.

Chances are if you're clued up enough to get yourself to a gym and use the equipment, then you'll somehow manage to be aware of the existence of GUM Clinics. I think you can sleep easy.

overnightangel · 18/09/2017 20:07

Simple solution, next time you're both in the gym shout "COCKROT!" at the top of your voice.
If he looks, he already knows he has a problem, if he doesn't look he's unaware and you need to surreptitiously leave him the GUM Clinic number

Miserylovescompany2 · 18/09/2017 20:08

Yes do this - then post an update Grin

I walked past a bloke wearing a rather brightly coloured pair of shorts the other week - he was rearranging his particulars with both hands shoved down the front just a fleeting glance on my part

SilverySurfer · 18/09/2017 20:09

Of course you would be fucking unreasonable! How can you even think doing that would be a good idea?

NoArmaniNoPunani · 18/09/2017 20:14

YANBU. Write it on a neon post it note and stick it on his back Grin

TakeAnadin · 18/09/2017 20:15

Another stupid made up post.

bluit · 18/09/2017 20:17

DD's boyfriend spent a weeks holiday with us, we hardly saw his hands.

It never happened when men wore proper trousers and braces.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 18/09/2017 20:19

YANBU

...but I'd just say 'It'll fall off if you keep doing that'

Some of you need to go & find your sense of humour, of course she's not actually bloody well going to go & do it.

SunnySkiesSleepsintheMorning · 18/09/2017 20:30

We used to be able to have threads on here like this but some people are so fucking po-faced. Grin

YANBU, OP. Maybe a print out from the Internet?

waterlego6064 · 18/09/2017 20:31

Um...I'm assuming this post is not intended to be taken literally, and am surprised at the number of posters doing just that!

The point being: it's really quite rude of anyone to have so much contact with their genitals in public!

waterlego6064 · 18/09/2017 20:31

Ha! Cross-posted with two previous posters!

TheBusThatCouldntSlowDown · 18/09/2017 20:35

Do it OP the poor man may have some dreadful disease, your intervention could save his very life.

I once saw a young gentleman on the metro with his hands down the front of his trackies giving himself a long (looooong) scratch. That was the last day I ever touched the handrails.

SouthWestmom · 18/09/2017 20:35

Poor you op it's not the place it used to be. MN - no idea about your gym 😂

EnnieJuan · 18/09/2017 21:03

Not just me who reacts to these things then. I do feel for the lad if he's genuinely got a problem that's not clearing up though. If he hasn't and it's just the need to keep his hands (or other bits) warm, then it's the rest of us in the gym with a problem as he stands by the floor length mirror for all to see whilst checking. I thought a post it note was more discrete than a quiet chat but either way, he ought to become more self aware as he might become another NEET behaving like that in any work place. It's not a made up post for all those cynics out there and it does distract many from their activities.

SleightOfMind · 18/09/2017 21:17

clearly you're a frequent gym-goer, in tip top condition, wearing less clothing than he might normally encounter you in.

You've clearly noticed this young lad, he's seen you looking and decided to signal his intentions.

Put your phone number on a post it note on the gym bag!

Bambamber · 18/09/2017 21:22

Maybe it's just a good old scratch and sniff

coffeekittens · 18/09/2017 21:58

Maybe he gets hives when he works out? My whole lower body gets seriously itchy when I exercise, crotch and all it's a PITA.

SoPassRemarkable · 18/09/2017 22:29

Yes, if you have mast cell activation disorder it can be brought on by exercise!

Happydoingitjusttheonce · 18/09/2017 22:32

Common amongst the steroid-using contingent. Checking how far it's eroded
