For a 4 (nearly 5 year old)?
She gets milk and a fruit snack at school too.

You pass, it looks grand and more than enough to keep him or her going.

DoublyTroubly · 18/09/2017 07:46

Looks good. I assume they provide the drink?

superking · 18/09/2017 07:46

I think it looks pretty good! I'd maybe take out the fruit winder and give her a bigger sandwich instead.

AuntLydia · 18/09/2017 07:47

Looks good to me!

RainbowSparkles · 18/09/2017 07:47

Yep, part of my job is working as a lunchtime carer in an infant school. We would be fine with that. Do you have a small drink to put in as well? Water, squash or fruit juice would be fine.

Chamonix1 · 18/09/2017 07:47

She has water bottle too.
Didn't have such a long day at nursery and wasn't sure how much she would need for school! Thanks Smile

Take out the winder, it's full of sugar
Give her a bigger sandwich or some cheese instead
But apart from that, it looks good

PickAChew · 18/09/2017 07:48

Agree about the fruit winder. It's just expensive sugar and there's already some sweet stuff in there.

JaimesGoldenHand · 18/09/2017 07:49

Is that a mini pot of houmous? Better check the rules about that as it's banned in many schools because the tahini triggers but allergies.

RedSkyAtNight · 18/09/2017 07:50

Depends how much she will eat. That would have been way too much for both my DC for different reasons - too much food for 1 DC and taken too long to eat for the other DC.
I'm assuming she actually likes all the things in box and is able to do things like open the packets unaided.

Newtssuitcase · 18/09/2017 07:50

Mine would have need more than that (assuming that sandwich is two quarters). I'd have put in another quarter or a bit of cheese.

elfinpre · 18/09/2017 07:54

I think it's fine, except probably I'd put one fewer item - only one sugary one so the yoghurt or the bear snack thing but not both.

Also think how long it takes them to eat it- DD2 is a slow eater and at school the supervisors try and make sure they eat everything in their lunch box before they go and play. Hence she moans at me if there is too much!

Chamonix1 · 18/09/2017 07:55

She won't eat cheese. (Wish she would)
If I put more of a sandwich in I don't think she would eat it. I have put more in for play school sandwich wise and it's comes back.
Aware the winder is just fruit sugars but thought it would be her "treat" as apposed to crisps/mini cake.

Pretty sure hummus is allowed haven't seen anything about it on the letters I've been given and on the website.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 18/09/2017 07:59

That would not be enough for my two at that age. I'd give more sandwich or maybe add so cheese and oat cakes.

PurplePillowCase · 18/09/2017 08:02

I would cut up the apple or (my) dc wouldn't eat it...
and if fruit is offered at playtime I would maybe put one less fruit/veg in or drop the fruit strings.
agree that it looks a bit sugar heavy and not very filling/substantial (unless dc eats the whole hummous pot)

but it's a good start :) you will soon figure out what works for you.

Gileswithachainsaw · 18/09/2017 08:02

Between the kids yogurt the winder and the Apple there's alot of sugar.

Swap winder for some plain pop corn or something

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 18/09/2017 08:05

I would put it all in a washable sandwich box first. Otherwise you'll be picking out the remains of all that from the seams. At ds's primary they brought all rubbish/uneaten food home. Warm.

Chamonix1 · 18/09/2017 08:05

I might put some cut up cheese in.
She probably won't eat it but she may now it's her big school lunch!
Winder out and cheese snack going in. Shall see what happens!

OP posts:
Dontfuckingsaycheese · 18/09/2017 08:05

They don't usually take their class water bottles to lunch.

PurplePillowCase · 18/09/2017 08:06

if the lunchbag gets manky, put it in the washer for a rinse (or ultra short wash if your washer has one).
that gets rid of the yoghurt between the seams.

Chamonix1 · 18/09/2017 08:09

Does a cheese string count as cheese?
I only have extra mature cheddar don't think she would touch that!
Winder out and 5 mini bread sticks in.
Looking better?
This is more complicated than I thought!

cheese string is just mild cheese cut up. it's fine

Gileswithachainsaw · 18/09/2017 08:11

For future reference cathedral city do little individually wrapped cheese portions if she would eat them.

Chamonix1 · 18/09/2017 08:12

Giles.
Thanks- wipers a try!
