In thinking there must be a way I can stay a healthy weight whilst being off my feet?

Recently had a foot injury (lisfranc) and so am off my feet for at least six weeks maybe months.

I always struggle to maintain a healthy weight (not turn in to massive blob) and have to exercise a lot.

Obviously cutting right down on food is going to be essential. Bloody hard when I'm sat down bored all day!

Anyone else been in a similar situation and what have they done to stay vaguely in shape?

I put on 75 pounds (35kg) when my back went when I was pregnant with ds and am terrified of it happening again. Obviously ds and water etc was part of that weight Grin)

The only solution is to reduce your food intake down to match the reduced calories that you'll be burning. And sit on your hands Grin
You can still do exercises sitting down though - just be imaginative.

So that'll be salad with no dressing them? Sad😭

Input your food into my fitness pal or similar everyday so you can be sure that you aren't over eating. Snack on raw veggies if you need to eat while bored. Drink plenty of water to stop feeling hungry.

I have had similar recently with a back injury. I turned to mfp for the first time ever to really make sure I wasn't eating calories that I wasn't burning. Maybe also try googling some strengthening exercises that you can do sat down?

Carrot sticks.

Strict calorie counting. Use MyFitnessPal. I lost a stone in a couple months sticking to 1200 calories per day with no exercise. You can easily lose weight without exercise if you eat little enough.

No snacks. Keep your hands and mind busy - colouring book, painting, crochet, cross stitch, knitting, crosswords, do an online coding course, anything to stop boredom snacking. Herbal and green teas. Meals with loads of veg and decent protein.

I am sure the current theory of eating apples and drinking filtered coffee (not instant) helps weight.

Although I don't eat apples per se I do have them in my veggie juice most days of the week and I drink a filter coffee one a day it really seems to have helped this year. Of course I am careful too .....

Hope this helps. I am in my fifties and don't especially exercise either .....

Thank you!

I've not heard the apple and coffee thing.

Had three chocolate digestives for breakfast. Blush

At least I'm doing my kebabs for the first time in four years since ds was born. Grin

You can still exercise your top half and even one leg- it does make a difference!

I have so much sympathy for you. I had the same last year (Lisfranc injury) and was non weight bearing for 6 weeks and partial for another 6 weeks. It is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I have just had my plate out as was in constant pain and had a huge lump on the top of my foot - think I was just one of the unlucky ones.

I would say I didn't really put any weight on whilst I was laid up but have put a little on since as not been able to exercise/walk properly. A some one else has said try and keep busy with sedentary things to take your mind off food!! Good luck.
