Posting here for traffic.

Only pair of glasses I have fell off my face this evening and have snapped down the middle on the bridge. I'm almost blind without them, definitely can't work as cant see well enough to read without them. Currently have a bodged sellotape job but don't think it's going to last long. Also have a family wedding Saturday so desperately need glasses for then.

If I take my glasses in will they have frames in the shop and switch my lenses into one of them, if I pay for the frames do you think? This is absolutely desperate, this was my spare pair so I'm completely lost if not, won't be able to work and might not be able to go the wedding. Anyone got any positive stories from opticians / recommendations of where to try that may help?!

How did you get on, @yellowLily?

Hello everyone sorry it took me a while to respond!

I went to specsavers the next morning; they couldn't do anything with the broken ones so I had to order new ones. We did manage to superglue them and put electrical tape round them to secure it but still looked dodgy as hell, so I also did a contact lens trial.

The optician warned me it could be too much going from never wearing them to all day but he even said the glasses looked atrocious and agreed it was my only real option. He gave me some drops to use as well, and so for 2 weeks I used contacts daily. I went back for the checks after a week on the trial and the optician was surprised, said my eyes look pretty good considering they'd taken a battering with the contacts and weren't red or irritated at all.

I picked up my glasses on Friday and am very happy to be back in specs although! I have to say I am enjoying for the first time in my life being able to see clearly to do my makeup so I have also bought a month's supply of contacts. I think they'd be useful to have if I ever have such a mishap again, and I think I am going to start wearing them for nights out and such. Smile
