Eating a casserole right now... DP thinks I'm mental for putting it in a bowl. No one eats it off a plate right?! Confused

Bowl with a spoon.

bea179 · 11/09/2017 17:31

Seems bowl is the unanimous winner! I'll suggest we invest in pasta bowls as a compromise Grin

Oh I also use a spoon.. DP used a knife and fork 🤔

Bowl with a spoon here too. If you chop everything up smaller you don't need a knife and fork.

Bluntness100 · 11/09/2017 17:36

Seeing the word bowl so many times has made the word seem strange

It really has , it's made my eyes go funny,,,😂

HelloPossums · 11/09/2017 17:40

Or if leftovers - in normal bowl covered in grated cheese and nuked until bubbling. Omg sounds like heaven 😍

Definitely bowl! For me, casserole's definitely comfort food, so bowl and spoon it is. Ooh you've made me want casserole now 😍

Scoobydoobydont · 11/09/2017 17:43

Straight out of the Pyrex casserole dish, with a spoon and bread to mop up.

DonttouchthatLarry · 11/09/2017 17:44

Bowl (wide, shallow pasta type one). Also used for pasta, goulash, chilli etc.

ReinettePompadour · 11/09/2017 17:45

Casserole goes on a plate and you eat it with a knife and fork and serve with vegetables too.

Stew however goes in a bowl and is eaten with a spoon and chunks of bread plus dumplings.

ChelleDawg2020 · 11/09/2017 17:45

A plate all the way. Astonished to think that anyone needs a bowl, let alone the majority on here.

dementedpixie · 11/09/2017 17:52

Ah maybe I'm thinking of stew being in a bowl as that's thicker. Chicken casserole would go on a plate with accompaniments

Tilapia · 11/09/2017 17:54

Plate

ShellyBoobs · 11/09/2017 17:59

Plate.

The number of people talking about bowls has me thinking that perhaps I've had it wrong all along.

Puffpaw · 11/09/2017 17:59

Bowl!

Scoobydoobydont · 11/09/2017 18:00

Casserole goes on a plate and you eat it with a knife and fork and serve with vegetables too.

Casserole and drew both in a bowl
In this house. Same as spag Bol, chilli, curry etc.

Basically anything that doesn't need sitting goes in a bowl.

Puffpaw · 11/09/2017 18:00

Ig you've cooked it properly you only need a spoon, lovely melty meat

Scoobydoobydont · 11/09/2017 18:00

*cutting, not sitting

SabineUndine · 11/09/2017 18:01

Whatever or straight out of the pan. I'm all the classy, me.

dementedpixie · 11/09/2017 18:02

Why is Drew in your bowl ? 😂

BlooBagoo · 11/09/2017 18:04

DH and I disagree on this too. I prefer the wide flat pasta type bowls for anything "saucy" even if there is mash/rice/cous cous/quinoa on the side. I can use a knife and fork in them fine but usually it's food that only needs a fork anyway.

DH on the other hand finds them too restrictive for cutlery (and always uses a knife even when it's a meal where just a fork will do) so he prefers his meals on a plate. He's also a food heathen who mixes all the different foods together into one big smushy mess which would be a lot easier to do in a bowl but he's a stubborn git Grin

Oysterbabe · 11/09/2017 18:04

It depends how thick it is and what it's served with. Quite thin with crusty bread to dip = Bowl. Thick and chunky with mash = plate

BarbaraofSevillle · 11/09/2017 18:08

Doesn't the gravy/sauce go everywhere if you use a plate?

OP buy something like the Ikea 'deep plates' and then you get your practical bowls and DP can stay happy using a 'plate'

YABU for using the phrase invest in when talking about going out and buying household goods, they ain't going to make money for you

MrsKoala · 11/09/2017 18:09

What craziness have i stumbled into. It's a plate and a knife and fork. I have never encountered it any other way.

farfarawayfromhome · 11/09/2017 18:12

BOWL.

jarhead123 · 11/09/2017 18:13

Bowl.

But my Mum uses a plate and would definitely judge me using a bowl!
