and hugely wasteful to throw away bread

Is it very stupid of me and very wasteful too if, after making a sandwich i notice a small patch of green mould and rather than just cut out the mould i don't eat the sandwich at all. Dh can't understand why i won't just cut out the mouldy bit. I'd be interested to know what others do.

Oh and I use those part baked loaves as they are handy to keep in for emergency use and keep some sliced white in the freezer for toast sometimes

I find it reduces the waste

Along with a bread machine

And a daughter who works in an artisan bakers - part of her rent is bread

Bread goes all weird and sweet before any mould shows. I don't eat a lot of it,. Anyhow so always do a sniff test if it's not absolutely fresh.

Never noticed any weird taste or smell from bread with mould on. Tastes fine to me and if there's just a bit on the crust I pick it off. Might not anymore after reading this.

Cheese is different though. I'll happily cut mould off it, but sometimes cheese gets a taste and smell that nobody else I know seems to notice but that I find absolutely vile.

I'd cut mould off cheese quite happily, but bread? No way. The whole loaf will taste awful. It's a goner!

This. I've been told it's ok on harder food like cheese to cut it off, but even one spot on a loaf and you should chuck the whole thing.
