To always think someone is in my house?

Basically the title.... always get myself worked up about someone breaking into my house or already in my house at night time.!Every little bang has me on edge.
I just came downstairs for a drink and was convinced someone was in my back garden.. just wondering if anyone else gets these feelings?

FYI, I've never been in a house that's been burgled or broken in to, so no idea where these anxieties come from!! But they're starting to do my head in. My DP worked away last December for 2 weeks. as soon as it was night time (pretty much as soon as I came in from work) I would go upstairs to my bedroom and set up base for the night making sure I had food and drink so I didn't have to leave the bedroom until it was light. Again every noise I heard had me on edge.

Nay I'm like this. My house is full of noises that don't exist during the day, particularly when I'm on my own.

P.s. Get a dog

Eatabagofdicks (love the name) I wish I could get a dog but we work to much! I've got a house rabbit who thumps at any sign of sudden movement 🤔😂

Nope YADNBU

Don't watch Tin Star or that blooming 28 days later film - anything like that gets my mind going.

Security light outside? Have your exit routes planned from different points? Strategically placed hockey sticks as weapons around the house?

(I Have insomnia can you tell?)

Get a flood light for the backyard that has a motion sensor, and a security system for inside.

Once when I was alone our burglar alarm went off in the middle of the night. I shit myself, barricaded myself in bedroom and called the police.

My next door neighbour came out , saw me at bedroom window and asked if I was ok and he would have a look round, came back and said he saw no signs of entry.

The police arrived and looked round, and all fine, as they were leaving the female officer said, " if it happens again do the same thing, don't go and switch it off, sometimes they come back knowing you'll think it a false alarm, and you won't call the police the second time" .

Friggen shit myself, took months before i slept properly again. So I have a bit of an understanding of what you are feeling.
