Aibu to let my 8 year old make a cup of tea

My 8 year old just brought me a lovely cup of tea upstairs while I'm getting ready for work, as a surprise. He's been watching /helping me do it for a few weeks so he knows what to do.

I'm a bit Hmm at him using the kettle by himself though. Is he too young to be around a kettle and using it by himself or is this just a case of pfb??

Travel kettle .. and teach DS not to overfill either kettle ... (a) easier for him to manage (b) better for the environment and your electric bill. Just by making a cup of tea he's learning how to look after himself, others, money and the environment! I'm impressed by your DC and others on this thread - wish I'd taught my DCs including how to make a basic breakfast/lunch/supper when they were 10ish - took them another 10 years!

My DD did this at 8.

I still wouldn't trust nearly 14yo DS with a kettle!
