Pavement parking help

So half the people in my street park on the pavements outside their houses. I'm at the end of a deadend street so if I want to leave the house I have to walk past all these houses. They have Drive ways but most houses have 2/3 cars each.
Today 3 houses on one side of the street and 1 on the other had parked so far on the pavement I had to walk with DS in his pushchair on the road. The street is curved as well so you can't see it anything is coming.
This happens most days (different houses but a few repeat offenders) and I'm just wondering is there anything I can do? Can I report it and if so, who to? Should I just get over it and not bother? DH thinks I'm making mountains out of molehills but it frustrates me!

This is selfish behaviour.

I'm not sure if the Police would do anything but you could ask at your local station for advice?

Wankers.

Crowdie · 07/09/2017 19:30

Meant to add it's dangerous too.

Why the hell should you have to push your child on the road because some selfish arses want to park on the pavement.

What about wheelchair users too?

So inconsiderate.

Police can issue tickets for blocking pavements. One force recently had a chief inspector on the news pushing a buggy along and ticketing every car he couldn't get past. Whether your local force will prioritise it is a different matter. You could call 101 and ask.

It's difficult if visibility is poor, a road where I walk has pavement parking, and I walk up the middle of the road, and make cars wait whilst I do it. If they get stroppy, I tell them that cars and pedestrians are clearly sharing spaces.......

You can contact your local PSCO as cars are not allowed by law to drive onto the pavement, and they may ticket them if there is dangerous parking.

I would like the courage to let all the tyres down personally......

This kept happening on the road my parents used to live on and I believe it was reported to the police (possibly through the pcso) and all residents were given leaflets advising them that the police would start issuing fines if it didn't stop, for all the reasons mentioned (prams, wheelchairs etc also emergency vehicle access).

The same thing happens here, and it must've been annoying someone because last week the police sent the whole street a letter about it. The lettter said that they've had complaints, pointed out that it is dangerous and finished up by saying they'd take action against people who persist in parking their cars on the pavement.

People park on the pavement here - simply because there is nowhere else to park.

I feel bad ringing 101 as I don't want to waste anyone's time. I'm just a bit fed up of it. I've seen the speed some cars come roaring down the road so it makes me a tad nervous... I tried to squash between a car and a bush today but I physically couldn't. In my mind I was thinking "I hope I scratch the fuck out of it" but I actually couldn't even get in between!

Take photographs and email to district council and police

FreedomMummy · 07/09/2017 19:57

Do report it to the police and they will do something about it. I parked half on/half off a pavement one evening at a friends house and I looked up at one point as a Police Officer was putting an official warning on my car. Apparently the local parents had been complaining that cars were blocking the pavements so they were acting on it. So do ring 101 as it is dangerous and does need rectifying.

Pavement parking is no longer permitted in a lot of places. In other areas you have to leave a minimum width that would suit a buggy. Report it to the council and they will send out a traffic warden.
