To think something must be wrong with me?

I go through stages of not been arsed with ANYTHING. I become tired, lethargic, melancholy and basically just can't be arsed.

A few months ago I joined a gym, was going 4/5 times a week, really enjoying it and now all of a sudden I just can't be arsed. I also can't be arsed to take my beloved dog for a walk or go to karate which I normally love. I just want to get in my pyjamas and vegetate.

All of a sudden I'll snap out of it and be all energetic and motivated again but right now, I just really can't be arsed to do ANYTHING.

It can't be normal to be like this?! I'm only 36. DH thinks I'm just lazy. Is he right?

Do the 'slumps' happen around your period?

OverTheHammer · 06/09/2017 14:56

Sometimes but this one is right in the middle of my cycle when I should be at my best!

Is it possible you do too much in those busy times and your body just needs a rest ?

To be fair I think everything is thyroid-related, so of course I'm going to ask if you have hypothyroid symptoms and, if so, if your thyroid has been tested?

Just before I was diagnosed I had an episode at the gym where I became exhausted (could hardly walk, thought I might not be able to drive myself home) and from then had no energy to train. I had other symptoms aside from fatigue (always cold, weak, pale, dry skin etc).

Eventually after treatment I began to feel better and was able to return to regular exercise.

Of course there can be a lot of causes for apathy/fatigue and this is just one. Smile Iron deficiency is a common one, as is too little sleep.

I was going to suggest iron. Mine got really low - not quite anemic but v nearly. The doctor gave me iron tablets which have helped a lot.

One of my friends swears by Floradix when she's feeling a bit slumped.

Thanks for the replies, I am anaemic so maybe it's that my levels have dropped too low again. I've booked in for a blood test x

Vitamin D is good for energy levels as well.

Although I need to take my own advice and start taking it again.

I'm not sure but just wanted to say I'm exactly the same. I hate myself for it sometimes.

I have weeks where I'm full of energy then weeks where I literally can't be arsed to do anything. Also get really clumsy and make lots of silly mistakes.

Sometimes it's related to my menstrual cycle.

I also have two kids that make lots of mess and that gets me down. I seem to spend all my life picking everything up.
