To ask if you take your lunch break?

I'm lucky to have been in a job where people are encouraged to take their whole lunch break, away from the desk.

I'm on lunch break in a new job now and there seem to be quite a number of desk eaters. I really hope it's not that kind of place. Of course if it's a particularly busy day, I'll happily shorten or skip lunch, but I won't work through lunch on a normal day, where my work's all on track, just for the sake of presenteeism.

What's the norm for others?

Have worked in three offices:

  • First one it was difficult to take a full hour out of the office every day due to one colleague martyring herself and making the rest of us feel guilty. So would often just take 20m to go and get a sandwich.
  • Second office job was so boring and with so little to do I would take full hour each and every day.

-Third job so busy at first I'd just get sandwich and eat at desk while continuing to work. Though as others have said would not feel guilty leaving early or coming in late where possible. But now it's all under control and I can manage it all better, I take full hour most days. Usually eat in the office but look on internet / read my book etc.
