To want to get my nipples pierced?

Lifesastitch · 05/09/2017 07:23

I had a big birthday a few months ago and entered the midlife crisis era, I fancy getting my nipples pierced, I do think they look nice.
I ran this past DH who comment was - now that'll put a smile on my face as I walk through the door. 🙄.
Part of me thinks I'm nuts and should just age gracefully and yet another part of me thinks yeah, do it, live for the moment.
What are your thoughts? What are the pros and cons?

And you can see the scar. I wasn't going to mention this, but the hole (of which there are three because the first piercing went wrong) fill up with that cheesy goo and I can squeeze it out. Now I'm a sporner so fine,

Struggling to find this attractive.

Lovingmybear2 · 05/09/2017 08:47

Why just why?? Personally am with your dh.

Mothervulva · 05/09/2017 09:05

cailleach now I don't mind that you've quoted me, I am trying to give the cons of (my piercing), but we get it, you don't like the idea. However, unless you've had the piercing perhaps enough with the pursed lips Elspeth mentioned?

EdmundCleverClogs · 05/09/2017 09:14

I miss mine. Once I'm done with breastfeeding my next baby, I'm getting it re-done. My partner was unsure about piercings (and tattoos) but he loves them on me and especially misses that one.....

PrincessWonderRabbit · 05/09/2017 09:23

mothervulva was your intention for that post to attract cailleach666? Only I'm confused by their response to it. Confused

I had one done when I was 48. It hurt like hell for about 2 hours then was fine. I'm glad I had it done, was going to get the other done but have changed my mind now due to the decrease in sensitivity, want to at least feel something in one when they're being played with (which I'm hoping may happen again at some point in my life :). )

SistersOfPercy · 05/09/2017 11:46

I had both mine done a few years ago. I'm heavily pierced and this was by far the worst. I recall the feeling of dread after the first that there was still another to go (because the fried egg/fruit pastel look isn't attractive).

Anyway, I nursed those buggers for 2 years and could never get them to heal properly. There was always a pinch there and discomfort. I gave up in the end and took them out. As much as I loved them it just wasn't worth it. I wondered if it might have been because I'm larger chested and they are more likely to rub on a bra.

Mulch · 05/09/2017 11:52

Go for it. I had mine done but my body rejected it and grew it out

ILoveMillhousesDad · 05/09/2017 11:59

None of my partners were particularly fussed for it and if they sniffed it, it had a cheesy whiff!

Sexy Grin

TheEmmaDilemma · 05/09/2017 12:44

My pierced nipple was bigger for a few years after I took it out, but I just checked and it's barely noticeable now and not hard at all.

The cheese thing is real though so you have to be very clean.

MumBod · 05/09/2017 12:51

I piercings and I like sporn, but this thread has made me go a bit green...

PabloEscobarlo · 05/09/2017 13:07

Go for it! I've got both mine done I love them

WaitrosePigeon · 05/09/2017 13:08

Personally find it a bit cringe.

purpleprincess24 · 05/09/2017 13:11

I had mine done years ago, but they never healed properly so had to take them out after 6 months (not a problem with the piercing I just didn't react well to the metal)

Had my first tattoo last year though at the age of 53

Sallystyle · 05/09/2017 13:12

It hurts. But the pain doesn't last. However they can take up a year to heal. I love mind tho and I don't regret it

Sallystyle · 05/09/2017 13:15

Yes my nipple is now always erect. My husband loves that Grin

Ozzde · 05/09/2017 13:15

I've had one of mine done twice. First time I took it out because of pregnancy and wanting to breastfeed. Healed like a dream.

Got it redone a few years later. I loved it but it couldn't take much handling during sex. Well mine couldn't as it was too sensitive. I had to take it out eventually as I ripped it a bit taking off a sports bra and it never seemed to heal right after that. Then dp tugged it and made it bleed again thoughtlessly one night and that was that. I'd had enough. Miss it but not worth it.

I would say go for it, you can always take it out. It closes up really quickly and I personally had no loss of sensitivity.

Ollivander84 · 05/09/2017 13:18

I had both done at 18. No problems, healed well and they look odd without them now! The only thing I'm careful with is those shower puffs because it hurts if you get tangled Grin

Downtheroadfirstonleft · 05/09/2017 23:49

This is one of those threads that are sort of awful, but you can't look away..... 😂

hana32 · 06/09/2017 00:01

Go for it! Got both mine done as a teenager and kept for ten years. Usually wore rings in them. I had smaller breasts (though not any more - thanks breastfeeding) and the adornment made me feel sexier. Went down well with partners too.

It did however hurt like absolute hell during the piercing.

Goldenhedgehogs · 06/09/2017 00:14

I had mine done at 42 to mark the end of breastfeeding. I had both done one after another and especially the second one does hurt as you know what coming. I have a posh gold and opal Maria Tash bar from Liberties on one side and a cheapie on the other while I save up. I am all respectable at work so it makes me laugh to myself that under my m and s t-shirt I am being a rebel. Go for it, I was going to travel into London to get mine done but was advised to get it done at a local piercers with a good reputation so if you have problems it's easier to go back and ask for advice.

Alconleigh · 06/09/2017 07:31

I'm debating having mine done, largely as they are inverted. The NHS used to actually offer it for that reason! I do have a VCH piercing, which I adore, but am worried about the pain and healing elements of pierced nipples.
