Just doing the dance run dropping with DS and heard an advert for hire a hubby.com. AIBU to think this is a tad sexist?! I'm a single mum and manage to do most of the so called hubby jobs they list- property maintenance, painting etc... I know it's probably a marketing thing but still. DS 12 is great through, said i should ring and ask them to come do some cleaning or baking for us!

You do I know you posted that on MUMSnet right?!

PinkHeart5913 · 04/09/2017 20:26

At first I thought it was more likely to be a dial a shag service but having seen the website they are a real company called hire a hubby that come and do diy wtf? Shock

I wonder if there is a hire a wifey that come and bake and dust?

FlippertyJibbet · 04/09/2017 20:28

Is that the one in Faversham? I'm always Hmm when I see his advert! Even if I did need something like a washer changed or something that I dd t know how to do I'd never call him as it's so bloody cringy. And there's no way a bloke would ring him to do a job.

Maybe he's actually a prostitute?

MissionItsPossible · 04/09/2017 20:30

It looks like a very cheap and badly designed website. The testimonials come across as very dubious.

Manclife · 04/09/2017 20:31

Your all doing it. Complaining about HUBBY on MUMSnet. Is it just me who sees the irony here?

Figuringitout · 04/09/2017 20:32

Manclife - erm, what irony?

Manclife · 04/09/2017 20:42

Complaining hireahubby is a sexist website name but writing it on a website called mumsnet

hidinginthenightgarden · 04/09/2017 20:47

I don't think the name is the problem mancliffe. The concept combined with such name suggests women NEED a man to do certain tasks. The company is sexist.

MissionItsPossible · 04/09/2017 20:49

I don't think people are contesting the website address but the content behind the site Manclife

Manclife · 04/09/2017 20:50

Hmm, yet mumsnet being about bringing up kids (suggesting dad's can't) isn't?

NoMoreDecorating · 04/09/2017 20:58

Manclife - mumsnet - by PARENTS for PARENTS. Hireahubby - women need men to do all the "manly" jobs cause they're top delicate/dim to do them themselves. Massive difference. A man would never use hireahubby while plenty of men use this parents forum for help and advice.

Manclife · 04/09/2017 21:07

I'm pretty sure they'll do jobs for women AND men though (same way mumsnet is for both).

Here you go, go give 'em hell for gender stereotyping www.mollymaid.co.uk/

They are all over Australia. It's a franchise business. My friend is one.

I thought it was an escort service from the thread title. I was quite intrigued.

jeaux90 · 04/09/2017 21:29

I thought it was an escort service where we could hire a boring git for a night with a beer belly.
