AIBU to still be sitting on the sofa on Mumsnet (and Instagram after reading the instamums thread) when I'm going to a wedding 4 hours away tomorrow and I still have tons of shit to do? I don't even care that we're leaving at 7am!

Nope. Me too, when I'm overloaded,

You've got loads of time before 7am...it will all get done. It will all be fine.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 02/09/2017 22:35

I do that too! It seems as if knowing I have lots to do just paralyses me and I can't do anything. Which of course doesn't help the problem at all Shock

FreeSpiritJen · 02/09/2017 22:35

I don't do that, but YANBU. I know several people who ARE like that.

Enjoy the wedding. Smile

and get off yer arse and get yourself sorted! Grin

Sparklingbrook · 02/09/2017 22:36

Got back from a few days away today. Suitcases still in the hall unopened.
I am lying in bed watching TV. Blush

thepatchworkcat · 02/09/2017 22:37

Sparklingbrook I've been known to not unpack suitcases for a week after getting home Blush

Elland · 02/09/2017 22:38

I always leave everything to the last minute, I don't know why I do it to myself because then this happens every time! 🙈

There was a tallyman at the timber yard where I used to work who once came into the office and wordlessly tore up all his works orders when we were rather busy.
So no, you are not alone.

Elland · 02/09/2017 22:39

I would be the same with suitcases too but DP is the polar opposite and won't stop until everything is done. He's already sorted his stuff, gone to bed and left me to it Grin

Yes, I get overwhelmed. I find lists help, writing all the small jobs down, like brush teeth, put dark wash on etc helps as I feel better as I start to tick them off

Sparklingbrook · 02/09/2017 22:42

If I open one case i will have to open them all. Best not to start I think.

Plus point is that I did the washing before we left so it just needs putting away. Maybe tomorrow. Or in a week like thepatch. Grin

DaddyBeer · 02/09/2017 22:43

Nope. Just check out when it gets too much.

I once (well, more than once) didn't check my voicemail for two weeks. I'm self-employed.

I'm a grown-up. I can do what I like. What's the worst that'll happen? Fuck it.

SheRaaarghPrincessOfPower · 02/09/2017 22:44

I am like this, but if I leave if it just gets worse!

Get up, and spend just 10 mins getting the most important stuff together.

MagdalenLaundry · 02/09/2017 22:49

Me too
I get overwhelmed

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 02/09/2017 22:49

I totally get it and behave in a similar fashion quite frequently!

Haudyerwheesht · 02/09/2017 23:08

I'm not like this because although I leave things until the last minute I work best under pressure and can't bear being late for anything so would never really be up to the last second iyswim.

However before I met dh my best friend and I shared a flat. She was like you and always running round literally until the last second getting things done - she always did it though and probably didn't have as much 'dead' time at the end as me..... so I'm not actually sure who's more effective.

TroelsLovesSquinkies · 02/09/2017 23:18

I'll do it all so long as I don't sit down. Once I sit, thats it. I sort if give up and everything on the to do list is left.

Elland · 02/09/2017 23:25

Well I e managed to dry my hair which was probably the thing I was putting off the most, I'm off to do the steriliser and get on with the other jobs on my list or cram them in before we set off in the morning.

I am really organised when it comes to packing to go away etc, arranging things beforehand.

But some days I have a list of things I should get on with, housework, paperwork, other stuff and I get some of it done and I just think sod it time for a cuppa and MN Smile and thats fatal, getting up again is much harder. If I keep going I am fine.

Sometimes I just do what I chose to do and think 'tomorrows another day'. Its just overwhelming sometimes and there are so many better ways to spend my time Grin

Openup41 · 03/09/2017 00:09

I am too hard on myself. I keep going even when tired.

The first thing I do on arriving back from a holiday, is empty the suitcases and put on washing. The thought of chaos and mess is enough for me to keep on going.
