AIBU to sell for more than I paid?

I have a pair of trainers that i got for an absolute steal, i was really lucky and got one of a few pairs that were for sale for less than £30 but these normally go for £125 and you can only buy them from certain websites.

I've tried them twice and they're just a little bit too big for me so I'm going to sell them on, probably on Facebook sites so i can fund other shoes but my friend says i shouldn't ask more than i paid as that's wrong. I was thinking of asking £50/60 as that's still less than half the original price WWYD?

What trainers are they, out of curiosity?
Sneakerhead here! Grin

Stick them on Ebay and price them how you like.

RedBlu · 02/09/2017 13:32

Er No!!

Get as much for them as you can!

You can't replace them for that price so you need to get as much as you can to put towards new ones.

Unless your friend is wanting to buy them, I don't see why they are saying sell them for the same price as paid?

I have had loads of stuff I have purchased and eventually sold on for more than I paid, people will pay what they think it's worth.

Fieryfighter · 02/09/2017 13:34

19lottie82 they're On Cloud Cloudrunners. Gutted they're too big!

I would rather avoid ebay because of the fees. I used to sell loads of bits and bobs on eBay but usually go to fb groups now as much less hassle and never have problems.

Definitely sell them at a higher price.

CallySinammon · 02/09/2017 13:51

Absolute no brainer for me! Is your friend a bit batty?

zippydoodaar · 02/09/2017 13:51

Crikey, I do this all the time. It's called supply and demand.

Idontevencareanymore · 02/09/2017 13:58

You're not doing wrong or anything but I would be cautious of selling for more right now if the reduced price is still in stock iyswim?
You always get that one smart arse who points out you can get them cheaper elsewhere.

Otherwise crack on!

MyOtherProfile · 02/09/2017 14:10

Will you need to buy some the right size? Presumably you will have to pay more? So these will fund the new ones.

Logans · 02/09/2017 14:17

Dear god!

Never let your friend go in to business OP!

I'm assuming your friend doesn't own a house? If she does, & assuming she'll not sell that for more than she paid, can you PM me if she's thinking of selling

And can I get second dibs if she is?
😁

I think if you were to ask for £20 for a product worth £120 people might think there was something wrong with it, eg, knock off, bad condition. Probably consider it 'too good to be true' and wonder what the catch is.

YANBU I got pregnancy clothes on eBay, wore them and sold them on. One went for a tenner more than I paid. It's all good Smile

Cakeycakecake · 02/09/2017 17:31

I bought a pram in a toy shop for a tenner, being sold because it was the last in stock. Brilliant bargain, pain to get home though. Sold it for 80. My friend who was with me told me I was ridiculous buying it. Refused to help me get it home and bitched the whole way that I'd 'wasted the money'. When she saw it on eBay and subsequently sold she demanded half the money it went for 'because I could have bought it myself, and I'd have shared it too'. Bloody liar. She just didn't like that I'd done well.

Cakeycakecake · 02/09/2017 17:32

Whoops. Posted too soon. I was really pleased and used the money for my ds.
I say sell it for as much as you can!

Doglikeafox · 02/09/2017 17:36

Of course you aren't being unreasonable. If I were to buy a practically brand new pair of trainers for half of the price they'd be in the shops I'd be thrilled, I wouldn't give a monkeys about how the seller got hold of them (within reason obviously, wouldn't be a fan if they had been stolen from an OAP).
