EE and using unlimited minutes in Europe

Am I the only person that doesn't know this?

Just come back from PIL in Spain. DS called them from Folkestone to say we'd arrived blah blah. Went on a long time but I didn't worry as my inclusive unlimited minutes cover Europe nowadays. WRONG!!

Apparently if I'm in Poland I can call Spain as part of my unlimited minutes. But if I'm in the UK it's extra. £96 extra to be exact!

AIBU? I think it's bonkers to be able to call Spain from France/Poland/Holland for free but not from the UK??

Yes it only works from abroad, they do tell you that.

Still think it's bizarre though. I can phone anywhere in Europe from anywhere in Europe except the U.K.!

YABU. They abolished roaming charges, i.e. when piggybacking off another country's network. You were making an international call from the EE network.

They are Roaming Minutes. So basically you are covered for your calls and data usage whilst Roaming in the 48 countries that are covered in the agreement. You can add a free calling abroad add on which reduces your calls from the UK to overseas within europe to as little as 5p per minute. If you called and were given wrong advice all calls are recorded and they can check the conversation

£96 to call them in Spain? How long was he on the phone?? The free roaming should mean you get the same conditions whilst abroad that you do at home. Calling Spain would always be more expensive.

I think my confusion is that to me, calling Spain from Poland is international too. But not if your contract is UK based!

Three calls. They were having wifi issues and he was trying to help them.
