Would it be rude of me to?

I worked a nightshift last night, today is dd 4th birthday so had an hours sleep before she woke and have been up since, had lots of visitors and I'm knackered, I'd like to do tea and have a bath and get into bed.

Have told dp this, but he's saying how I should sit downstairs for when his parents arrive at 7pm, we see them often so it's not as if I barely see them. Surely they would understand and it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm just dying to crawl into bed, would it really be that rude of me?

Fellow night shift worker - you must feel dead on your feet after just an hours sleep. Your DH obviously doesn't do nights or he wouldn't be such a dick

You've been up for ages, and you need to rest. Politeness comes second. There are some things you need to do to ensure your health and wellbeing, this is one of them. I'd text them to apologise that you can't welcome them in person, and just explain that you have been up for 24 hours now and desperately need a lie down. Anyone reasonable would understand that.

Thank you all.

I know hissy even if I go to bed I'll still hear Mil screaming with laughter at anything and fil ridiculously loud talking.

My Bil works nights sometimes and my sister doesn't allow anyone around while he's sleepingSmile

You don't need permission to have a sleep.

Get yourself a pair of earplugs. Since there will be loads of adults in the house, you don't need to be alert. Just let your DH know you're wearing them. The high quality ones are really quite good now.
