Would you be pissed off or do I need to chill?

Sah here to 3 DC youngest nursery age.
We went away for a Monday to Friday break visiting family and stay g in self catering accommodation without dh as he was working.
We than net up for a two week holiday ending today.
I arrived home with children first as dh wanted to stop somewhere enroute and didn't want to take youngest. All OK.
Now before I went away we had issues with the garage freezer and had to throw lots away.
Most of this was placed in the outside food waste bar one bag. I specifically asked dh to put that in the Outside bin once it had been emptied. He did this and also chucked out rest of rubbish but didn't replace bin bags. I can live with this.
But also awaiting us was mouldy bread, empty crisp packets, dirty kitchen worktops and random plate and I haven't been upstairs yet
Now Aibu to expect the house to be as clean as I left it nearly 3 weeks ago.
All he had to do was keep the place tidy in the evening from Monday to Friday I know he was working all day but I had kids with me and still kept the accommodation tidy.
Aibu to be pissed off.

depends how many crisp packets, how dirty the work surface was, and what the hell you find upstairs.

a couple of crisp packets, a few crumbs or drips, one plate... ok, several days worth of muck that looks like it has been welded on... taking the piss.

neutrogenA again and again I see you pipe up with the most awful advice.

It's sooooooo disrespectful op and I would do sweet eff all.

Cambionome · 01/09/2017 16:48

Totally disrespectful. Don't listen to the apologists for useless men on here, Op. Why is his mess your responsibility?

flumpybear · 01/09/2017 18:19

Do what my husband does ... book the cleaner to come the day before we get home lol 😂 it saves lots of rows and grumping!!

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/09/2017 18:25

Don't listen to the apologists for useless men on here, Op.

Someone who doesn't clear up food waste before a two week holiday isn't an adult.

Notonthestairs "I'm afraid I went Red Ross."

Well, I Googled Red Ross so as not to appear helpless and got this and I'm none the wiser. Confused

Insomniac- sorry, I'm old, it was a Friends programme reference to when the prat Ross character went nuts at playing Rugby. Blush

Afreshstartplease · 02/09/2017 07:15

I do hope knowing about red ross doesnt make one old! Im only 29! Although may be old before my time as my friends were most confused when i spoke of my monicas cupboard!

HaudYerWheeshtBawbag · 02/09/2017 07:18

Let it go, you both have different cleaning standards it's a never ending fight that simply just isn't the battle, if the place is a pig sty, then it would be a different matter, but it's a few plates and crumbs.

mygorgeousmilo · 02/09/2017 08:23

I would be furious! Coming home to a spotless and empty house always rounds off the holiday so nicely for me, and there's no excuse for him being a slob. YANBU

Shinyhappypeople78 · 02/09/2017 18:01

He did apologize about mouldy bread but it would seem that wiping down worktops were not even on radar.
But I accepted apology and asked him to wipe down counters now and in future.
