To think some people just do not suit makeup?

I have never been beautiful but I was quite fresh faced when I was younger. I was never 'into' makeup in the way some young girls and women are. I also had nice hair so made the most of that.

I have recently had my makeup done professionally for the first time.

It looks terrible! I am distinctly orange hued and I look clownish.

I can't work out what it is. I have very, very dark eyes but they are small so although mascara is the one bit of makeup that I do suit, eyeshadow just overpowers them. My mouth is tiny. Then I have a roundish face so my cheeks are full and hamsterish and blusher looks stupid.

Since starting work I used a bit of foundation and mascara, that's it really.

Do I just accept makeup isn't for me?

I think most people suit make-up. I worked with professional make-up artists and they were amazing. They wouldn't have made you look orange.
Was the make up artist you used, making you up for being photographed? If so then you end up with a more unnatural look to balance out the lighting, etc.

YANBU. I have never liked the way I look in make up - I'm certainly not beautiful though. I find that any kind of foundation just highlights my peach fuzz.beard. I certainly raised a few eyebrows that I didn't even wear make up for my wedding. (Although I did have my hair done professionally) Didn't worry DH though who has seen me in make up so rarely that in his opinion I just look weird.

It's trial and error, and working out what suits you and your skin. I've very dry skin and so 'setting' my foundation with powder leaves me with a dull face. A very light foundation and some setting spray works much better and gives me a dewy glow. But I only learned that after years of trying different things.

You should not have looked orange. If you don't mind me asking, was it a MAC foundation in the NW range? I find it makes so many look orange, whether they have cool or warm undertones. It suits almost noone ...
