Was watching this earlier. A Chap came on with an 18ct gold and diamond bracelet. He had found it in amongst a box of odds and sods he bought at a boot sale. Hadn't noticed it until he was looking through the box some time later. The bracelet was only made in 2015 so new. I can only think that it was put in by mistake or had fallen into the box from someone who was at the boot sale. I'd have tried to reunite it with it's owner. It's not as if the person would have known it was in there it was worth £3K new and he had given £10 for the box!
What would you have done?

If i'd have bought the contents, i'd have kept it. If it was in there i'd assume they'd kept it in there. Think of all the other contents you'd have to check with the owner!

I was watching real deal yesterday where a woman paid 50p for a bracelet in a charity shop and got £1300 for it. Can't see her going back to the charity shop.to check the price was right. Id like to think the seller checked the box before selling,if not - not my problem

Conversely we saw Celebrity Antiques Roadtrip last night and there was an item that none of them really understood the significance of. They bought it for about a quarter of its value and then sold it at auction for about half of what it would have got on eBay or a specialist auction.

Sorry, should have been more clear. The box was full of old bits of toys. So I really don't think the £3K bracelet was meant to be in it.

I don't think you can assume it was put in there by mistake, maybe the person selling just didn't like it. Doubt there would be much chance of reuniting with its 'owner'.

SparklyMagpie · 30/08/2017 17:25

This is what i mean, would you then try to contact the owner for any of the contents that could be worth £££?

It's their responsibility to check before they sell IMO

Imagine watching it having lost your bracelet and seeing someone sell it on tv 😮😮😮😮

Corcory · 30/08/2017 20:25

That's what I mean Mammy, I just couldn't do it. I would be on face book asking everyone to share to find the owner before I would think of cashing in.

To be honest once I've walked away from a market stall I couldn't remember what the seller looked like with a gun to my head. I'm not sure how you would track them down. I'm sure anybody that has £3k bracelets has them insured as well.
