So DS is 7 months old and he's been making "mmmmmuumMMMUUUMmuuuuummmm" for about 2 weeks now. But today he's been saying pretty clearly, "MUMMAA"

My partner and I have a bet on to see if he'll say "mama" or "dada" first

Soooo, is this his first word?? or am I clutching at straws

My dds first was banana..na..na...na.....she didn't know when it stopped.
My Ds was juice (dooce) whilst pointing at his juice cup.
Dada was next, then a few other words I don't remember, then mumma.
My Ds even managed to name his sister (sounded nothing like her name but that was his name for her) before mumma..........
I hope he says it again soon and you can confirm he was saying mumma.

My daughters first word was pen. Then she said nothing for 9 months then came out in complete sentences.
My sons first word was digger.
My brothers was door

My son was a late speaker and we were concerned. Babbling but no words. Until one day I was sat on the trampoline with DS and DD started to clamber across it and I said 'mind the bird poo'.
DS's first word then immediately followed. It was 'bird' then 'poo'. Then he said bird poo about 100 times. Thrilled.

Sounds like a word!

It's more of a babble, so I'm thinking maybe clutching at straws!!

10 days left of mat leave... long enough to drum "Mama" into his head?? Easter Smile
