So sorry, partially posting for traffic but also I have no idea where else this could go on the forum.

It's my DHs 30th and I'm stuck for ideas.
He doesn't like watches, has plenty of aftershave, doesn't wear ties or cufflinks, isn't very sentimental, sells 'experiences' for a living (driving, shooting, extreme sports etc), can't afford a trip away (have young kids).... so far all I've thought of is a pair of Levi's... is that a shit 30th present? Heeeeeeeelp

@rizlett I love those!
I bought DH a remote control helicopter for his birthday 2 years ago and he literally never used it. My parents bought him a mini drone you control from your phone and again he has never used it. I don't even know where they are!!

He's not ungrateful, he always says thanks and looks delighted with his gifts.... but then they get put away after the event and he completely forgets about them...

Go away for a night child free?

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 30/08/2017 13:02

A really nice photo of your DCs, get it printed out and buy a lovely frame. It's personal, and something he will have for ever.

I'm very sentimental and I love photos and frames... but that is the worlds shittest present Grin

I think that's our best bet. I know we'll end up just sleeping lol.

I work in a hotel so won't be hard to organise some decent room rates

Tickets to a sporting event?

RB68 · 30/08/2017 13:11

I think you have to go for an experience - but not one he sells if that makes sense.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 30/08/2017 13:12

Is there a hobby that he loves that you can indulge him in? DH will be off to Rome for a couple of days by himself for his 40th (not on his actual birthday) so he can do all the ancient rome tours without small kids getting bored!

Joannearobinson23 · 30/08/2017 13:14

For £200 you could do a night away (babysitter permitting ) or go on a nice day trip (with kids)
Nice meal

pinkstripeycat · 30/08/2017 13:16

My DH would like a sports massage and jacuzzi session. For his 30th we went to Bath (premier inn so reapsonbly priced) and just looked around (buildings/parks) without spending money to go in to places. I did buy him a book on The Beetles book which he wasn't impressed with

Sayyouwill · 30/08/2017 13:20

All the experiences he sells are things he loves. He gets most of them for free through work to have better 'product knowledge' lol.
He's played football at his teams stadium, he's sat in the premier box, he's trained with them, he has a season ticket already, he gets gig tickets through work, he loves cars and has driven most sports cars on the super tracks, he's done sky diving, bungee jumping, skiing, cocktail making, beer tasting, shooting, he's done a buzz flight... all the things that would make awesome birthday presents!

The things I know he would love the most are things my budget would never, ever stretch to for example, expensive sports cars, helicopters etc Confused

See if you can get childcare for a weekend after his birthday and put the money towards a weekend for just the two of you. Then have an adult weekend of just the two of you where you can just snuggle and be yourselves, even if it's just a cheap hotel room in the middle of nowhere with a do not disturb sign on the door. Good luck OP x

Rizlett thanks for that suggestion % hopefully small enough for hand luggage :)
