To ask about holidays... esp Turkey

I'm looking for a family holiday (We have a toddler) for next year (decent pool, beach, nice room- nothing too big or fancy) but am shocked by the prices. Any tips?
Any good experiences of Turkey this year? Wee bit wary due to travel warnings for various areas but have loved holidays there in the past.

Incidentally Croatia is the only place I've felt quite threatened and uncomfortable. Staying in Cavtat (which was not a good choice for a 24yr old - yawnsville) and spent a lot of time in Dubrovnik. One night we were watching an international football match in one of the pubs, Croatia vs someone, and every time a black player on the opposing side got the ball, there would be boos, monkey noises, the lot. And it wasn't the odd dickhead, it was the majority of the Croatian fans. Horrific. A very unsettling situation to be in, we made a swift exit.

We did however love the excursions to Mostar, Kotor and Budva. Stunning places.

And I've also done the 2day trip to Istanbul from Sunny Beach, Bulgaria. Fantastic, affordable but knackering, way to see a beautiful city.
Now I wouldn't be in a hurry to go back to Sunny Beach though....

Look up Patara Viewpoint hotel.

10 mins from Kalkan. Might not suit toddler ( no baby pool etc) but a a future thought.

Fab hotel

Wonderful hosts

Agree cafe and the people that own it have beautiful villas in Kalkan itself too (or at least they did a few years ago when we stayed there!).

They have a new dog now - zilly passed away last year.

Owners are still as lovely and the staff as kind as ever - we have been twice now.

I went to Turkey May 2016 for the first time and went back this May to the same hotel as it was so amazing!
The people are lovely, they love children and the place was spotless.
Staff couldn't do enough for us.

We went with Thomson and paid £1250 for 2 adults and dd 6 and ds14 for a week AI in a 5* hotel.
It's a huge self contained complex and you don't need to leave it ( we took a shopping trip to Kusadasi 10 mins taxi ride )
Beautiful rooms/multiple restaurants/bars. Kids club/outdoor amphitheater and a private beach are just some of the things we loved.

Biggest attraction is the onsite waterpark, one of the biggest in Turkey.
There is also a spa which I loved and a shopping complex

It's called the Aquafantasy Hotel and Spa, Nr Kusadasi, 40 mins from Izmir airport.

Going again next year!
