Posting for traffic.

I have been signed off long term while I'm pregnant, I can't get out the house myself as I have crutches to get to/from car and a wheelchair for anything more than that now (pregnancy related not long term). I also can't sit for very long without pain so spend most time lying down.

There's only so much daytime telly I can take! I need something, anything, to pass the time. I've been reading or browsing MN too but surely there's a hobby I could take up that doesn't involve moving or sitting... All ideas welcome before I lose the plot entirely

AConvivialHost · 29/08/2017 14:14

StumpyScot92 · 29/08/2017 14:16

How long have you got left?
You could easily pass loads of hours watching boxsets on Netflix.
How about knitting or crocheting? I'm sure you could do either whilst lying down. Easy to pick up and there are plenty of how to videos on YouTube.

I bought a Nintendo 2DS and bought a few Professor Layton puzzle games to play (and Pokemon). Would something like that be in budget/of interest?

Feel for you, SPD knocked me for six during my last pregnancy, I'm dreading it happening again this time!

StumpyScot92 · 29/08/2017 14:21

15 weeks to go. I tried to teach myself to knit many a time before and it's always been a serious failure ha. I think I need actually taught for that. I've also watched so much Netflix it's unreal 😂

I do have a 3ds with a few games (including prof Leyton and Pokémon haha) which is alright for a while was just looking for anything else to occupy the gaps between playing that and mind numbing telly

Ah, StumpyScot92 you have good taste then Grin. I have a list of PS4 games I could recommend as well, but it is more staring at screens. I don't have any aptitude for knitting and such so not much help there. My partner isn't back at work until next week, and when we've had the opportunity, we've just binge watched 4 in a Bed on All4 (because we're old before our time apparently).

Books? I have always got a list of books to get to. You can get free ebooks from most UK library apps these days.

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 29/08/2017 15:16

My hobby is reading Tolkien. 😀

jaseyraex · 29/08/2017 15:18

Perhaps take up painting or drawing? Minimal movement, get an easel and you can stand or sit as you please.

RB68 · 29/08/2017 15:20

cross stitch, knitting, reading (kindle might be easiest for lying down)

afrikat · 29/08/2017 15:43

I had a similar issue it was awful. I passed the time with Netflix, lots of reading, listening to hypnobirthing tracks and doing some colouring when I felt up to sitting up
Goof luck!

Read books, sketch, learn to cross stitch, learn a language, learn how to do origami, learn an instrument or how to sing (classes online)...

How are your sewing skills? You could be stitching a blanket for that baby that's causing you all this discomfort.

Flimp · 29/08/2017 17:54

Duolingo for brushing up on languages or Udemy/Craftsy for learning stuff.

Flimp · 29/08/2017 17:57

Ooh, also, if I had hours and hours I'd make some albums out of all our digital photos.
