Wise MNetters help me! Severely scared of spiders, have found 3 in house over last 2days. Tonight it was huge and made my heart race for about 30mins. Desperately trying not to react as don't want DS1 aged 3 to develop phobia. Please help with any tips.

If you use the hoover make sure you empty straight away,

Mr cersei hoovered one up last year (great big blooming thing, sure it had tattoos a bowler hat and was snapping its fingers at me!) anyway he took the compartment to empty as needed empties anyway and the bloody thing was still alive! Hate to think what would have happened had we left it it would just have come back out with a vengeance!

Also it's kinder to kill the big house spiders than to put outside as they die from the cold apparently so they get swift shoe in here now (by mr cersei I freeze and can't move)

Funny story to finish with though, I work in community nursing and was in at a patient (bedbound) with another nurse when she stopped and was just looking, so I asked what was wrong and looked where she was looking to see this massive spider running across the bed well I screamed out loud and could not move after that. Patients family member came and scooped it up quite the thing and off he went! I said to my nurse friend I hope I dont get 2 scared of spiders nurses if I'm ever bed bound or I'll be praying to be taken now if I get big ones!

If you are talking about a vacuum cleaner, then you can find it on the different marketplace like bestvacuumcleaner2020.com

I buy Indoorex from Amazon and spray the whole house two to three times a year. Changed my life. I have a real phobia and since using this I have learned to relax in my own home.

My DDs are terrified of spiders. I'm not so they didn't pick that up from me. I don't particularly like them, but I'm able to tolerate them. When it comes to wasps, however, it's an entirely different matter, I simply can't cope with them, which makes eating outdoors in the late summer very difficult at times. My DDs are not afraid of wasps (although that might change if they get stung), so they won't necessarily become afraid of spiders because their mum is.

I see that this is a zombie thread, but a discussion about phobias is interesting whether the OP is there or not.

I second MakeItRain's suggestion - you need to get a cat (or two!) Smile

Aaargh, didn't check the date of the OP!
