To be a little bit proud? Just a very little bit?

Wedding next July, much weight piled on in last year. (Bad nutrition, no exercise, working weird hours, but completely my fault all the same.)

Must lose some for the sake of my cardiovascular health and my pretty dress. And a little ashamed of being a fat doctor.

Downloaded MFP and bought a lunchbox. Packed a lunch last night and got half an hour of exercise in this morning.

I know it's only the start (have almost 50 lb to lose Blush) but AIBU to be just a little proud?

Even if I am BU, I'm still pleased.

Neutrogena ODFOD

If others are unimpressed or indifferent they can not click on the thread or comment. This is mostly a supportive place for those looking to lose weight, only a few arseholes who equate a thread like this with boasting. Weight loss is easier when you feel supported and absolutely nothing wrong with the OP seeking it online from us. Nice to have a positive thread for once!

So after 5 days, around 3 pounds down. I know a lot will be water and a bit of glycogen and stuff, but even managed to eat well throughout and after a 24 hour shift!

Exercise going well too - the cats love to watch me dance. Grin

It's not always easy doing what you tell others to do:

I'm an accountant - my home finances are a mess
Friend is a plumber - his bathroom is awful
Another friend is a mechanic - and drives old heaps.

I imagine working in healthcare is much the same.

Good luck!

Well done you! I've been putting off starting my weight loss programme. Hate the diet word. Well 10 days ago something finally clicked and I weighed myself. I needed to do it and for me it is always the hardest first step so I can really empathise your feeling of achievement. I'm going really slow this time and have only lost 2.5lb but for me it is about getting my head in the right place first.
Keep going and good luck!

Well done cat. Of course you should be proud of yourself.

Grilledaubergines · 02/09/2017 21:16

Making the decision to do it is a big step. Positive thoughts.

Neeko · 03/09/2017 16:19

Well done on the good start. Smile

KurriKurri · 03/09/2017 16:35

Well done you - you've inspired me to get started, - I seem to keep making excuses to myself - I'm always going to 'start tomorrow' Grin

Neutrogena is the seagull of MN - s/he likes to shit on everyone's (healthy and nutritious obviously)picnic. Ignore Smile

AnnetteCurtains · 03/09/2017 16:40

Oh piss off Neutrogena
Well done Cat you sound like you are determined !

MFP is so helpful. Give yourself enough calories per day, there's no point setting yourself up to fail, and give yourself a good length of time too.
I found it very useful at the beginning to weigh out things like 100g cooked rice, cooked pasta etc. It made me realise my portion sizes had got far too big. After a while, you can judge quite easily and therefore what you record on MFP becomes more accurate and meaningful.

Just an update - nearly 40 pounds down, almost a healthy BMI. Will be back to 9.5 stone for wedding in July!

Congratulations Cat, that's a great achievement. No doubt you are feeling more than a 'little bit proud' now. You must be beaming like a Cheshire cat, and quite rightly too.
