This thread is an argument for closing large stores on a bank holiday. The only reason to shop with your DP is if you are with children or one of you cannot carry your purchases because of illness, injury or a disability.

YokoReturns · 27/08/2017 22:03

vanilla Grin I'll give you next door's address and start gangland warfare in our very snooty village

KimchiLaLa · 27/08/2017 22:05

I go with DH for a few hours sometimes. We get lunch, an ice cream, mooch around, and don't buy anything because it's actually not that cheap.

HighwayDragon1 · 27/08/2017 22:32

Jack Wills
Ugh
Ralph Lauren
Cath Kids
Superset

In that order, and £££ lighter...

HighwayDragon1 · 27/08/2017 22:32

*ugg, superdry

Amanduh · 27/08/2017 22:33

You'll be fine as long as you get there for opening! Lunchtime onwards, no.

Doing Bicester Village on a Bank Holiday :

Queue to get off the M40
Queue on the A41
Queue at the roundabout.
Queue to get into the car park.
Queue for a parking space.
Experience car-park rage.
Queue to get into the shops (no, I'm not exaggerating...)
Queue for the changing rooms.
Queue at the tills.
Repeat at 3 other shops.
Queue for a table at a cafe.
Queue for the loos.
Queue to get out of the car park.
Queue on the A41, again.
Queue to get back on the M40.

I'd go on a wet weekday in September, if I were you Wink.

I went on Friday and it was quite horrible.. I lost count of how many times people rammed buggies, luggage and bags into me. I gave up in the end. I went to two shops I had on my list then left. The queues were crazy and had to queue just to look at certain display items. It was a hot sticky day which didn't help. I got a parking space quite quickly but there was literally only two or three left (this was Friday late afternoon). Oh and the loos were completely foul. I'm only 50 minutes drive each way.. more than this and I'd have been really pissed off at wasting my time. Normally I go non school hols, on a week day and it's fine

I'm still in bed. Shame on me for not charging through Prada like a bad out of hell Grin

I love shopping with mine, we both hate shopping but he has the ability to look at clothes on the hangar and tell if they'll suit me and so we can get in and out in record time. Then we go and drink a lot of cocktails to recover!

ethelfleda · 28/08/2017 09:38

Do it but please don't start a thread after you're back complaining about the lack of parking or the queues or there being too many people there etc etc
And have a lovely day Smile

Sparkletastic · 28/08/2017 09:47

Glad you've saved yourself the pain OP. I think if you've really got a yen to shop a nice mahoosive air con mall like Westfield or Bluewater would be more bearable. DH and I like to shop together occasionally too. Reminds us of the heady pre-DDs days when we had a shitload of disposable income and nothing to show for it.

stevie69 · 28/08/2017 09:48

What's an 'Outlet Village' and what does one do there? Blush

strawberrisc · 28/08/2017 09:49

I'd burn you with fire.

angelnix · 28/08/2017 11:04

No no no, we live about 10 minutes from Bicester Village and the traffic is horrendous. Combine it with the roadworks and lack of parking and it's a wonder that anyone goes there! If you do feel the urge to go, use the park and ride or park at Water Eaton park and ride and catch the train in.
