To want to eat some crunchy chalk?

demirose87 · 27/08/2017 09:52

I'm 34 weeks 4 days pregnant and for the last few weeks I've had the strong urge to eat a stick of chalk. I had the craving with my last pregnancy and didn't cave in but this time it's stronger than ever. I think it's the crunchy crumbly texture I need. I'm watching youtube videos of people eating natural chalk pieces and it makes my mouth water. What would be the worst that could happen if I ate some chalk? The only thing stopping me is the fear of harming my baby. But I am finding it so hard to not just cram some of my kid's chalk into my mouth. Confused

Wondering if you found any edinburgh rock, it can be found in gift box type packaging at sea-sidey places Flowers

Unfortunately I didn't 😔 is it like the soft type rock that you just bite into?

I was addicted to Rennies when pregnant! If I'd known about spearmint polos I'd have had those too!

Gaviscon tablets for me as not too minty. I still crave them 2 1/2 years after giving birth.

BarbarianMum · 28/08/2017 12:39

Gaviscon tablets are exactly like minty chalk (may actually be minty chalk Hmm).

For me it was bath sponges. Mmmmmm.

demirose87 · 28/08/2017 13:04

I've had the sponge craving before. With my last pregnancy I had a sponge shaped like an ice lolly on a stick and chewed it till there was none left. Confused

Calcium tablets? You can buy chewable ones in Superdrug. I've got to eat them for hereditary osteo issues and I hate the texture.

mummyofmoomoos · 28/08/2017 16:02

Yes, soft crumbly rock- just like chalk- sorry you couldnt find any Flowers

MyGuideJools · 28/08/2017 16:23

I had that 'crunchy, chalky' craving and extra strong mints did the trick. I crunched through packets of them! I also ate spoonfulls of coffee granules Blush

I crunched ice cubes in my first pregnancy. Also raw super noodles.

39+2 with number 4 now and haven't had bizarre cravings. Just desperate for salted caramel/chocolate, which to me is a clear mark of absolute sanity.

I ate talcum powder with my third. One night, bathing the youngest two, the craving got too much and I had a little lick. The eldest caught me Grin. I was so embarrassed and I had to explain that it was something you should never never do. They still tease me about it now.
