eBay

I'm fully prepared to be told I am but I just think people take the absolute piss!
I have a few things for sale on eBay - all buy it now or best offer. Not things people would consider essentials like baby items etc because tbh if it was and people were offering pennies I'd probably feel guilty and accept their offers.
But when they offer £3 for something that's listed for £30 - and worse when I counter offer continue to send the same amount back in their following two offers it really gives me the rage!
Also I've had people TELLING me what the postage should be (I use Royal Mail website to estimate by weight and size) trying to knock me down on that too, then bidding but not paying! 😡😡😡
AIBU to tell the next person who sends me a cheeky piss taking offer to fuck off?!

If someone takes the piss with a low offer I just counter offer with the original price minus 10p

Jedimum1 · 26/08/2017 21:07

Remove the "or best offer option"? I'd just not reply, isn't there a button to decline offers? They are obviously trying it on, maybe they don't know how it works and hope that it's an automated thing? As if you had put a "reserve" as minimum and they could "but it now" if they figure out the minimum? It doesn't work like that... But maybe that's their hope?

ladyyyglittersparkles · 26/08/2017 21:08

🤣🤣🤣 I've done that before. I had a huge bundle of make up listed, all brand new with RRP for all products coming to well over £150. A great start up kit for a MUA - It was listed for £65 or best offer.
I got an offer of £8.50! I sent an offer back for £100 🤣😡

Well yeah I could put auto decline on but I do like to have the option to take lower offers if the buyer makes multiple purchases.
I get more angry when I counter offer say £25 and get the same pitiful £3 offer two more times!

I'm trying to find a way to actually block a buyer now because several times in the last year she's sent me the same piss poor constant offers and then just not responded to my final offer 🙄

I've had a potential buyer telling me to lower my postage and accept her (very) cheeky offer. The item was a pair of branded flip flops , with tags that retail at about £20. She wanted me to take 4.99 for them...needless to say I thanked her for her offer and wished her well in finding branded shoes on a budget.

I have made cheeky offers myself thoughSmile

JeReviens · 26/08/2017 21:18

Here is how

Block up to 5000 bidders - have fun!

Chewiecat · 26/08/2017 22:04

Eurgh I hate this too! Just sold something on eBay and then the buyer emails to say sorry I got a better offer elsewhere, can I cancel the transaction? Angry
I have decided not to respond now and will just let eBay put an unpaid item mark against his account. Cheeky sod

19lottie82 · 26/08/2017 22:14

You can set an auto accept and / or reject on your best offer, so if someone sends you an offer under a set amount it will reject it straight away.

ladyyyglittersparkles · 26/08/2017 22:16

I suppose I understand people taking their chances but to send the shame shitty offer three times 😡😡
Wankers!

I do make cheeky offers, you never know, some sellers have had it on for a long time and are desparate to sell. For example I saw a beautiful genuine Miu Miu bag BNWT for £500 BIN or best offer. I put in what could afford £300, and it was accepted. I was so happy. When I recieved the bag it did not disappoint, I know what to look for in certain designer brands, it was totally genuine.

Snowme · 26/08/2017 22:20

If you don't want silly offers just set your Offers unit to only accept offers suitable to you. For example, list at £100 but you know you'll take £75, so set it to automatically accept offers of £75 or more, but decline offers of less than £75.

Offers are a good way of gauging how many people are taking interest in an item. I don't use it as a useful buying tool, but for that reason.

Aeroflotgirl · 26/08/2017 22:20

Or say, somethings BIN or best offer £60, I will offer £35 and see what happens. Migh go up to £45 if I really like it.
