So I'm a kiwi living in the uk and have now decided to try enter the workforce. I did ncea in nz passed them all and gained UE as well, but is there anyone out there who can help me figure out what the uk equivalent of ncea+ the marks would be? I'm assuming it would be ncea level 1= gcse, and level 2+3 would be AS+A levels? Would that be right? And Then would all passing grades count for above a c? I'm properly thinking way to much into this but all the positions I'm looking at asking for certain grades in certain areas, I passed level 1 and 2 with endorsements so definitely had good grades!

I'm ever so sorry that I don't know. Are you asking about Employment Issues? Higher/further education? Not sure if AIBU is the right place.

I guess it would come under employment but couldn't really figure out where it would fit either as it's so not so much an issue? And it's not exactly further education as nceas only done in high school. so put it here since aibu seems to get the most traffic! Although i can turn into an aibu but asking an aibu in suggesting there should just be some universal system where all grades/testing are the same between countries! 😂

Did you do your level 3 NCEA in the highest year of High School (ie. year 13 aged 17/18). Is that what you'd need to get into uni there?

If so put them on your CV as A level equivalent so employers realise that is what they are.

Allthebestnamesareused · 26/08/2017 12:41

I am sure a kiwi will come along and let you know soon. If not, I can message a colleague (not on MN)

You could pay for UK NARIC statement of compatability but it's not cheap.

HanarCantWearSweaters · 26/08/2017 12:53

Allthebest, you need a separate University Entrance attainment, not just level 3 but yes they're the final year in 7th form/year 13. Some people pass level 3 but don't get UE.

I've wondered about this a bit but my jobs over here so far haven't required my high school marks.

littlemisssweetness · 26/08/2017 13:32

@Allthebestnamesareused yes level 3 is done in the last year of school, but University entrance also has requirements at level 1 and 2 that need to be achieved and specific requirements at level 3, so you could pass level 3 but not gain the university entrance criteria

@LivingInMidnight unfortunately money's abit tight to stretch that far (hence the looking for a job!)
