Man walking down busy city centre street at lunchtime with what appeared to be his small kids and partner. He's wearing a T-Shirt with the slogan 'I don't need sex I get fucked by the Government every day'.

I'm not a prude (I don't think) but really? Just your average looking bloke.

I vividly remember being about 6 and seeing a massive biker walking down the street with a tshirt that said "FUCK THE POLL TAX" on it. I remember going home and asking my mum what it meant and soon wishing I hadn't Shock

Sparklingbrook · 25/08/2017 13:25

Not appropriate IMO, and I am not a prude. I would judge.

Phosphorus · 25/08/2017 13:26

What does how he looks have to do with it?

It's a political sentiment, a bit nonsensical, but you get the gist.

It's not terribly offensive, unless you object to the word 'fucked'.

Redsippycup · 25/08/2017 13:26

My personal favourite was the twat that thought 'blow job is better than no job' was appropriate work attire.

I would just think he was a dick and move on if it was just out and about though.

CockacidalManiac · 25/08/2017 13:27

I'd think that he was a halfwit.

Sparklingbrook · 25/08/2017 13:29

I take it that the way he looks is relevant because he wasn't particularly 'out there' anywhere else other than his t shirt.

He didn't have a giant 'Vote Labour' tattoo or a face full of piercings etc.

LuLuuuuuuu · 25/08/2017 13:29

Christ

Humour bypasses much Hmm

Sparklingbrook · 25/08/2017 13:30
Hmm
FlaviaAlbia · 25/08/2017 13:33

No, not appropriate.

Reminds me a bit of seeing a young woman walking round ikea with a tshirt with a picture of Kermit the frog and the slogan "Kermits cum shots". Hmm No one needed to see that...

IjustbelieveinMe · 25/08/2017 13:38

I remember walking around a city in China and spotting an elderly lady wearing a jumper with 'worlds best dad' written on it in English. Oh how I laughed. Not inappropriate but thought I would mention it nonetheless.

Sparklingbrook · 25/08/2017 13:39

I am not a huge fan of slogan t shirts rude or not TBH. They are generally a bit cringy.

BlurryFace · 25/08/2017 13:43

Inappropriate for a job interview, yes, for walking around outside? No.

A1Sharon · 25/08/2017 13:44

These threads always make me feel so uncomfortable. As once upon a time, a long, long time ago I too was a complete bellend who wore an irritating/rude/attention seeking/twattish t shirt. It said BITCH across the bust.
I was indeed an attention seeking/full of myself teenage knob, in my defence.
That's how I know the people who wear these kinds of top are idiots, takes one to know one!Grin

PaganGoddessBrigid · 25/08/2017 13:49

That wouldn't bother me really.

I am more bothered by ones with slogans like ''I went to bed with a ten and woke up next to a 2''. ie, grading women as fuckable objects. I was cycling along and saw a fat bloke loitering outside Paddy Power, roll your own in one paw, betting slip in the other paw, wearing that t-shirt and I thought 'mmmm well aren't you a solid 2 and a half''

That t-shirt is contemptuous of the govt and not sexist.

RevRichardWayneGaryWayne · 25/08/2017 16:45

I met a guy party once (family will be there, wear a nice shirt, type party) with a T-Shirt that said "Nice legs, what time do they open?" - I wouldn't say I was offended but I did find myself wondering who he was expecting to impress!

PaganGoddessBrigid · 25/08/2017 17:15

Bloody hell, that's like saying ''ever wondered which men are entrenched in rape culture, look no further''.

Fruitcorner123 · 25/08/2017 18:16

pagan and rev they are both vile. The OPs one doesnt offend me too much. I guess kids and those easily offended are likely to see the swearing on grafitti or heaf it spoken in a city anyway. If he wore it to watch his kid in the nativity I would be offended.

cariadlet · 25/08/2017 18:48

I don't think the t-shirt is offensive in itself. It would be fine down the pub, at a gig etc. But I don't think it's appropriate to wear it walking round town any more than I like to hear people swearing casually and for the same reasons.

I'll use "fuck" and "fucking" when talking to my dp or some of my friends, but wouldn't when talking to my parents or anyone else I know who would be upset or offended by it. I wouldn't swear when out in public because you don't know if young children are likely to hear, or if there's anyone else (eg many old people) who wouldn't like it.

I know kids hear those words, but it doesn't make it ok to swear in front of them. The man in the OP is a twat for wearing that when he's with small children.

But the revolting sexist slogans described in the later posts are way worse and reflect much more badly on the wearers.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 25/08/2017 18:56

It's inappropriate. Any t shirt with FUCK written across it, is.

Anything you wouldn't want your teenager to wear out to a family gathering, is inappropriate in public imo.

gingergenius · 25/08/2017 22:53

Maybe it's just his one-man protest? As long as he's not demanding you wear it, I think you're safe...it could be worse - he could be. Forever Living t1@-shirt telling you to #livethedream. In which case I'd be horrified!!!
