To ask them to find me a job

I have my esa questionnaire here. All 50 pages of it. I have been off for 2 years (ish)

I really want to work. At the moment I volunteer 10-30 hours a week (well I did until the holidays, done nothing volunteer wise during). I desperately want to work.

Even cleaning/reception/bar work jobs won't take me.

I can't work outside of school/childcare hours - I don't drive (epilepsy) and single mum. I have BPD, epilepsy and a prolapse that isn't being sorted through physio (won't let me have a hysterectomy as apparently too young).

I want a job. How do I get one?

I'm unsure what you mean by 'them'?
Who should get you a job?

tehmina23 · 24/08/2017 17:36

Have you tried care work? With some agencies you can get various hours.

I have epilepsy & BPD traits, psychosis & depression and I work part time as a care assistant I'm a hospital. I use my annual leave if I need a meds change. They are very supportive.

It's an interesting job because you meet all types of people & I enjoy the work.

araiwa · 24/08/2017 17:46

The only person who can get you a job is you

Bluntness100 · 24/08/2017 17:55

I also think you need to clarify who " them" is. Who do you wish to ask? I'm sorry it's not clear.

callmehannahbaker · 24/08/2017 18:58

Sorry-I mean I'm actively trying to find a job at the moment but when the esa people say I have to stop esa and find a job-should they not be instrumental in that? No one wants mess I've been off work so long

First of all I would go back to my GP or find another one to do something about the prolapse! It's not a way to live, and what little I know is that it can get a hell of lot worst and borderline impossible to fix if left too late. That's should be your absolute priority, I can't believe we live in a country where people are left to suffer - well, I can, but it puts me in a blind rage. Good luck!

Also try your local hospital for cleaning jobs (cleaners are known as domestics). They really are not fussy about who they employ wrt employment history & qualifications as long as they work hard & do the job well.
Also try general employment agencies for cleaning, care work, factory work, shop work, temp jobs can lead to permanent.

The job centre may help with skills related to getting a job such as making a cv, or they will know of places that can help.

Look to be honest I know so many immigrants who came here with nothing, living in shared rooms, no qualifications, children to care for quite often, no spoken or written English yet they managed to get basic jobs which led to better jobs and they are actually doing ok now.

If they can do it then you can too!

Your epilepsy shouldn't stop you unless it's totally uncontrollable.
BPD can be difficult to cope with as I know but you can get free therapy courses online, I get help from my cmht.

The prolapse is an issue - try a new gp.

Don't immediately declare your disabilities to an employer or colleagues unless you absolutely have to. I never did because I know how hard the stigma can be unfortunately...

School hours are like hens teeth!!! Everyone wants them!

What will you do during school holidays?

callmehannahbaker · 24/08/2017 19:58

If I'm working during school hols I'll pay for childcare obviously. I'd rather a job with minimal hours into the out of school time if I could though. I used to work in accounts which was mainly flexitime. Which are the best sites to look for jobs? I just keep being turned down.

Google 'employment agencies in (town name)'

Hont1986 · 25/08/2017 10:55

If you have your ESA questionnaire in front of you then are you still applying for ESA? Even if they have already told you you can't?

The alternative is to claim JSA but even then they wouldn't really help find you a job beyond holding the threat of sanctions over you to force you to find one yourself.

Employment agencies are the kind of places that I think you need.
