To chase up after interview?

Had an interview a while ago and got good feedback but was advised that they couldn't let me know for a 'few' weeks. Well that was 3 weeks yesterday! AIBU to chase it up? Or should I just accept that I've not been successful?

I think 3 weeks is probably about average isn't it? I've had a job not contact me for over a month before. I never chased it, I actually forgot about it.

If you need to know, drop them an email and ask when candidates will expect to hear back from them.

chase it up. If you were successful you're hardly likely to make them change thier minds.

Thanks, its good to know that's normal. It's been a while since I had an interview.

I went for an interview today and was told two weeks so three weeks doesn't sound too much more.

They will have to go through the other candidates and can depend on when they're available for interview so it can lead into weeks before you hear back.

No news is good news but keep us posted.

I had an interview last week, a trial shift on Tuesday and then was told by email that I hadn't got the job and 'they don't do feedback'. Oh, thanks then.

Thankfully, I applied for a job this morning and am interviewing tomorrow.

Some NHS jobs take absolute ages. Anything else, I'd chase.

Thanks, Antonia

Chase it up. Keep it short and polite, just ask if they've come to a decision on x role or if they are still considering. It could be that the final decision-maker or rubber-stamper is off sick, or on holiday, or the admin didn't post the pile of letters last Friday. It's likely that they haven't appointed anyone yet as usually offers and rejection letters or emails are sent at the same time; however there are occasions where they are waiting to see if the first choice accepts or not before sending out rejection to second choice.

Equally they might have more then one told to consider for or another forthcoming role, so they are holding off a few more days on letting people know as there might be something else in the offing.

Good luck!

Thanks diamond . I have asked... and... they might know by next week. I don't think I'd be bothered, except for the fact that they want someone to start mid September!
