Disabled Bay

Just been to McDonald's with DP, outside there are two disabled bays and the rest regular. As I was walking in I noticed a couple sat in a parked car in the disabled bay. They were sat there eating their food.

AIBU to think that isn't right? You don't take up a disabled Bay to sit and eat your food, disabled or not?

I don't think it's an issue if they had a badge .

Was someone

Letstryagainshallwe · 23/08/2017 15:01

Sorry posted to soon. Was someone waiting to use it??

elliejjtiny · 23/08/2017 15:07

Ds2 and ds4 have blue badges and it says in the handbook that the blue badge holder can't stay in the car while the car is in the blue badge space. I suppose if the disabled person got out of the car to get the food or use the loo in McDonald's then it wouldn't be breaking the rules to sit and eat in the car afterwards.

GlitterGlue · 23/08/2017 15:07

Even if they do have a blue badge they can't remain in the vehicle.

Happens an awful lot at our drive through, but they're blocked by non badge holders. McDonald's don't give a toss.

Tiptoethr0ughthetulips · 23/08/2017 15:11

YANBU it's unfair of them to do that, they should use it when they need to but pull into another space if they want to sit there for a while. I feel the same when I see people sat in parent and child bay waiting for an adult to do the shopping. If child not getting out then bay isn't required surely.

Spikeyball · 23/08/2017 15:14

It is possible the blue badge holder is still out of the car but if they aren't, the car should have been moved to another space.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 23/08/2017 15:18

Are you really begrudging someone a parking space? Seriously? If they have a blue badge just leave them to it ffs.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 23/08/2017 15:20

Blue badge was on display. You have no idea if the owner of the badge was in the car or in the shop.

Leave them alone.

ginandlime · 23/08/2017 15:39

Equally, no idea whether bb holder is diabetic and needed to eat before proceeding on their way.

TheFairyCaravan · 23/08/2017 15:44

The blue badge holder is meant to vacate the vehicle under the terms and conditions.

It's selfish to occupy a space and remain in a vehicle imo.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 23/08/2017 16:11

We don't know if the blue badge holder was in the car!

They could have been in the toilet for starters.

JanuaryOwl · 23/08/2017 22:29

I did know that there was just the two of them as they left after eating, I was in our car behind them.

OP if it didn't affect you and it doesn't sound like it did, then MYOB! Life is too short to worry wether a disabled person is using their badge correctly.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 23/08/2017 23:34

If they had no blue badge then YANBU. If they did have a blue badge then it really wouldn't raise an eyebrow with me.

Had they chosen to eat inside McDonalds they'd have been using the bay for a similar length of time, so I can't see much of a problem.
