To want my handbag not to be a shit tip

packofshunts · 23/08/2017 14:49

Doesn't seem to matter what handbag I have they always seem to become a mobile skip.

Virtually have to tip the contents out to find anything and can't even use excuse of having young DCs anymore Confused

Am so envious of women who have beautifully organised bags and know where everything is in a trillisecond.

Where am I going wrong? How do I tidy the contents so both purse and bag aren't an embarrassment?

Is it the bag? Is there a fail safe handbag that promises permanent organised lushesness or is there a top secret SOP I need to instigate Grin

I have way too many handbags and they were all full of shit. It got so bad my husband took them all out one day and cleaned them out. He found £15 in total I let him keep it 😂

Look at mia tui bags. They've revolutionised my hand bag!

woodhill · 25/08/2017 22:17

Why ask for suggestions OP if you are going to be rude about them.

packofshunts · 26/08/2017 11:17

I was agreeing with Flowers about Mia Tui bags!

Marie Kondo says to empty the bag every evening, and only put things you really need back there.

RainbowPastel · 26/08/2017 11:35

This comment - Someone has insisted I get a Kipling bag and my life worries will be over!

I posted above suggesting a Kipling bag.

packofshunts · 26/08/2017 11:37

What is it about Kipling bags that's so good? (Genuine question.)

I've got an Animal cross-shoulder bag - it's got loads of compartments and is quite funky and wasn't at all expensive.

RainbowPastel · 26/08/2017 12:24

It's all the separate compartments so you always know where your keys, bus pass, tablets etc are.

Donttouchthethings · 26/08/2017 12:43

Thanks, Rainbow. I know what you mean about compartments - def v handy. I have that with my Animal bag.

BunnyNeeded · 26/08/2017 12:45

Found a piece of cheesecake in a napkin in mine the other day Confused

yomellamoHelly · 26/08/2017 12:56

Mine is split into 2 compartments and is small. Keys, pack of tissues, glasses cleaner and hand sanitiser go one side; phone and purse other.
Have a bigger one for work with a zipped pocket. Phone and purse go in that. Keys etc in first compartment; stuff I need for work goes in the second compartment. Think it help to always group the same items together so everything has a place in your bag.
When the kids were little my bag was a whole other matter though.......!

MrJohnsonAteMyCustard · 26/08/2017 13:06

I have lots of Kipling bags, and they ARE fab. But I rarely use the compartments as intended and am always in a rush so just bung everything into the main compartment. Clearly, no bag can save me Blush

YouAndYourFloofyCatNose · 26/08/2017 13:14

My recommendations are a Longhamp or similar style tote bag, a handbag organiser and a handbag light that lights up when you open bag. These are amazing Grin

In my bags I always have
Purse
Keys
Two days worth of meds (a lot)
Hairscarf and hairgrips
Lipstick, lip balm and perfume
Blue badge
Phone charger
Gloves
Fountain pen and ink
Plasters and safety pins
Travel toothbrush and paste
Kindle
Bottle of water
Tissues
Pouch of San pro stuff
If the DC are with me, all their mobile phones Hmm

It's a family joke that if the DC say "have you got..." the required item is always in my bag. I am also prepared for unscheduled hospital trips where they keep me in. I draw the line at carrying knickers about with me though Grin

Mine is the same! Receipts, spare nappies, wipes, toys, the list goes on!! Agree with pp about cleaning it out during times of boredom! Blush

Cheesymonster · 26/08/2017 18:27

I like using pouches rather than having everything floating about loose. So I have one for pads and tampons and painkillers. Then I found a nice one on eBay which has two zipped pockets so one houses lipbalm, oil blotting sheets (so I don't have to carry powder with me) and a small mirror and hand sanitiser and the other zipped bit contains nail clippers and hair bands/grips and a nail file.

I also have the key fob version of all my loyalty cards on my car/house keys so as a result my purse is tiny and only has cash and bank cards. I have the Stocard app a PP referred to also.

Then I just have tissues/wipes (for DD) and hand cream and my kindle floating loose. At the weekend I use a small cross body bag for my purse and phone and put DD's stuff (sun cream etc) in a small backpack for her.
