Advice to chuck mucky stuff at care assistants

Don't want to give too much info out for obvious reasons but was in training this morning (catheter removal and insertion) and the trainer said "take the old one out and chuck it at a passing care assistant or whatever - "

Everyone was laughing their tits off but as an ex care assistant is found this a bit offensive not to mention unprofessional. I'm not usually one to complain but in this case, WIBU?

I used to be an HCA, don't find it offensive in the slightest. Also don't find it funny, but there you go

Sharks, As a Professional I imagine, that your DH also keeps those feelings to himself? He acts courteously towards his patients, regardless of how unpleasant elements of his job are at times?

Most HCP think bodily fluids are disgusting. They don't demonstrate it to their patients.

Definitely doesn't keep it to himself but doesn't tell the patient either. They tend to be unconscious though.

He told me last week how a woman he was working on stank of BO and he'd imagine people would shower before an op. Esp. as they often can't afterwards.

Do you think the person from the OP was serious?

Why did you ignore my question?

Well your husband sounds a right peach sharksDen. The woman was having surgery, tends to suggest she might have had something wrong that made it difficult to shower, yeah?

Or perhaps she was just a reeky bastard who had no respect for other people who had to spend enforced time with her.

After 42 years, I think I'll keep him, yeah?

He's specialised in otorhinolaryngology* (ear, nose throat) so no, nothing stopping her washing her pits, yeah?

Patients are reminded to shower before the op as there is often a period of time afterwards when they won't be (medically) able to, yeah?

  • yes, I'm showing off with my longest, correctly spelled word, yeah?
