AIBU to be excited about new job?

My hourly rate hasn't changed, my essential duties haven't changed. But I've gone from selling clothes (which I could literally not care less about) to selling books (which I adore and care about deeply) and stationery (which I also love).

It's probably a lateral move, as opposed to a step up in my career, because it's still bottom tier retail work. But I care so much more about the product, and damnit, I'm excited! Also, I never have to work for my horrible ex-manager again, which is even more thrilling!

Yeah, this was a not so stealth boast. But like I said, I'm thrilled.

If I didn't have the financial responsibilities I currently have, I would definitely work in a bookshop. I have tried to work out if it would be a viable option for me financially and it sadly wouldn't, but it would be my ideal job. YANBU and congratulations! You're right to be thrilled. Smile

Oh I'm jealous! I always wanted to work in a bookstore but then the internet came along and shot my attention span to pieces!

Best of luck OP. Flowers

Well done, I'm very jealous!

I hate my job now; change of higher management, bitch of a line manager...the whole ethos of the company has changed and I dread going into work now - which is so sad because I used to love my job. If I could leave and work somewhere I love, I'd jump at the chance.

Boast away Smile

Congratulations on your new job I hope you enjoy it 🙂

Never apologise for your job not being senior enough! If you love it and it's interesting you're streets ahead of many people with fancy schmancy top tier jobs.
