To feel so anxious about PFB starting school?!

Just that really, DS starts school in two weeks and I already feel like a gibbering mess about it! Not sure why as has been going to nursery since he was 1.

Please tell me it's normal?

Totally normal. Flowers he will be fine.

Thank you, I err on the anxious side anyway, so big events like this are hellish, I'll always find something to worry about!

Yes it's normal, I was an emotional wreck. He will be fine Flowers

It will be fine. Try and remember that your job as a parent is also to make them independant as well as protecting them. That usually gets me through those grim anxieties of letting them go.

My dd is 8 and let her go off round the school fete with her mates for the first time last term. I was anxious but tried to think about the independence thing.

Yes, seems v normal although it was not how I felt.

Enjoy his achievement at being ready for Big School and be proud of him for growing up, developing and making new experiences.
I loved seeing how excited my 4 were and how they went off, eyes shining and happy.

I hope your DS will have a good experience too and that you will only have a decorative tear in your eye rather than being too sad Thanks

Big hug OP, we've all been there

Wait until you're waiting for pfb's GCSE results Grin

it'll happen quicker than you think

It's so very normal! I was a bundle of nerves with my first. My second and last is on her way in 2 weeks and I have emotional moments frequently. Thought I'd be better 2nd time but no I'm just as nervous. All my mum friends who are going through the same are all dreading it. Some to the point of tears just talking about it and they've already got older children at school 😂.

Honestly it gets better and you get used to it but it's a very unsettling time for parents.

Thank you for all your comments, nice to know it's normal. We moved a few years ago and all my mummy friends are far away so have no one in RL to compare anxieties too!

My dd will be 4 on 30th Aug and then starts school on 4th Sept...i am very anxious. Will do my best to hold it together and then retreat to the car to cry like a baby on her first day!
