The Kiboomers

Baby Bumblebee

I'm bringing home a baby bumblebee,
Won't my mommy be so proud of me,
(Cup hands together as if holding bee)

I'm bringing home a baby bumblebee,
Ouch! It stung me!
(Shake hands as if just stung)

I'm squishing up the baby bumblebee,
Won't my mommy be so proud of me,
('Squish' bee between palms of hands)

I'm squishing up a baby bumblebee,
Find more lyrics at ※ Mojim.com
Ooh! It's yucky!
(Open up hands to look at 'mess')

I'm wiping off the baby bumblebee,
Won't my mommy be so proud of me,
(Wipe hands off on shirt)

I'm wiping off the baby bumblebee,
Now my mommy won't be mad at me!
(Hold hands up)

IANBU this is surely not an example to set to children to whom do I address my complaint?

i couldn't give a monkeys about canoes or kayaks or 10 ft willies or fictional egg men. a lot of people really think goon around squishing insects is absolutely nothing Sad

Slowcookerheaven · 20/08/2017 21:33

It's a silly song. Seriously catch a grip.

WhamBarsArentAsFizzyAsTheyWere · 20/08/2017 21:34

It's a song that has been around for years and years.

A lot of people aren't mass murdering insects just because they have heard it.

Uokbing · 20/08/2017 21:36

So where did you come across this song then?

VivienneWestwoodsKnickers · 20/08/2017 21:36

@SunnyL I forgot about that song!!

And yes, total rite of passage, the stupid songs at Brownies, Guides, Cubs, Scouts etc. None of us squished bumblebees.

Massive overreaction.

Sashkin · 20/08/2017 21:38

All Brownie songs are highly dodgy. "When Suzy was a baby", "Two little angels", "Milk milk lemonade" etc.

We sang the baby bumblebee song in the early 80s, I'm sure kids today have heard far worse.

Mysterian · 20/08/2017 21:38

Aren't some bumble bees endangered now?

Maybe we could change the lyrics to make it about a horse?

I'm taking home my foal
Won't my Mother be surprised at me
I'm taking home my foal
Ow! Ee! Foal stung me

I'm squashing up my foal
etc

Glumglowworm · 20/08/2017 21:38

I LOVE Cecil is a caterpillar! I've been doing Brownies for a few years and only heard it for the first time recently. Something about the way the other leader went Oh Cecil what HAVE you been doing? And then the ending cracked me up (I was expecting it to be that he had turned into a butterfly)

Teatowelfairy · 20/08/2017 21:39

goose1964 of course bumblebees sting, well the workers and queen bees do. However drones (male bees) don't have stings.

I also used to sing this in brownies but the lick then sick up version. We also used to sing 'spastic Susie' which concerns me a hell of a lot more than this!

TheVanguardSix · 20/08/2017 21:40

Get a grip OP.
Just wait until they grow up and move onto Horrible Histories.

The Kiboomers rule, btw. They do a killer rendition of Zoom Zoom Zoom We're Going to the Moon (for all the non-h8ers). Grin

maras2 · 20/08/2017 21:41

Thank goodness my kids went to Woodcraft < paramilitary wing of the co op > and not bee torturing Brownies. Smile

Nocabbageinmyeye · 20/08/2017 21:42

I want a life where a child's song is all I have to moan about

I loved that song in brownies. I saw it sang on Keeping up with the Kardashians once ---> useless bit of info for you there, Khloe Kardashian knows it too

AdalindSchade · 20/08/2017 21:42

Maras it's woodies where we sing the bee torture song

pinkiepie1 · 20/08/2017 21:42

Yeah in the version I know (remember) we had the sick and licking up.
.
Talk about things that were acceptable way back then. 20+ years ago at scouts/cubs (or some other club i was apart off) we used to sing a song about Hitler and him only having one ball hahaha

There's a second verse to "Worms"

The long thing squooshy ones
Slide down easily
The short fat juicy ones stick
Nobody knows how I survive
I think I'm going to be sick (gagging noises)

CockacidalManiac · 20/08/2017 21:47

Fuck me, you're actually serious aren't you? Having a meltdown about a kids song?
Seriously; get a grip.

MaisyPops · 20/08/2017 21:48

Love these. I'd forgotten about the worms one and the flicking bogies at the sun.

As other people have said, aren't you meant to throw up the bumble bee as punishment for eating it in the first place?

Though it makes you wonder who decided to write these songs for kids.

GherkinSnatch · 20/08/2017 21:48

Anyone for outraging public decency at the cinema?

Skinny Malinky long legs big banana feet,
went to the pictures and couldnae find a seat
when the picture started,
Skinny Malinky farted
Skinny Malinky long legs, big banana feet

YorkshireCurly · 20/08/2017 21:49

I sang it at cubs. I can happily report i have never knowingly killed a bee. Or licked it up, or sicked it up...

mmmmnuts · 20/08/2017 21:53

For some reason it's okay, but if we changed the words to

I'm bashing up the little puppy,
Won't my mommy be so proud of me,
('bashes puppy in the head)

people would be outraged.

CockacidalManiac · 20/08/2017 21:55

Yeah, but you could make any song offensive by changing the words...

mmmmnuts · 20/08/2017 21:57

Then again, I do regularly change the words in nursery rhymes with my kids Grin

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, once I caught a fish alive,
6, 7, 8, 9, 10, then I let it go again.
Why did you let it go?
Because I'm kind and I like fish!

Onemorestepalong · 20/08/2017 21:59

What about the poor man who jumped without a parachute and was a blob of jam?!

He ain't gonna jump no more
