AIBU to think you don't strum your hedge at 8.30 on a Sunday morning?

Was hoping for a lie in this morning but neighbour across the road has decided to strim his hedge at 8.30 am. As it's at the front of hus house and our bedroom is at the front of our house, it's bloody loud and has woken us up.

He's a teacher and so has 6 frigging weeks in which to trim the hedge. But he chooses 8.30 on a Sunday morning.

WIBU to go outside and water my frit garden but accidentally drop the hose so it so sprays everywhere?

How is it arrogant to say I'd personally wait until 9 to do any noisy work??

As for shift workers, yeh it's a nightmare doing shift work but not everyone is a shift worker-normal waking hours continue and the OP isn't saying the noise started at 5am for crying out loud!

Nothing unreasonable about 8.30am. More and more people work on Sunday's and have a day off during the week, no-one worries about them maybe having a lie-in.

TwitterQueen1 · 20/08/2017 21:39

I think strumming a hedge is a perfectly acceptable pastime for a Sunday morning.

I hate it when I can hear my neighbour strumming his back garden. The noise it terrific..

Uokbing · 20/08/2017 21:49

Wow your neighbour must have been really enjoying the hedge strumming if you could hear from next door!

kennypppppppp · 20/08/2017 21:52

Your title sounds like it's been written by jay from the inbetweeners

Fluffyears · 20/08/2017 21:58

I have people who decide 'ooh I've got that really noisy anti-social job to do and I'm awake so everyone else should be!' FUCK OFF I want a long lie ffs. Leave it till 11ish at least. Also no need to do it early to beat the heat as in Scotland it's 20c maximum.

Noisy jobs anytime before 10am on a Sunday is just unacceptable. Our new neighbours (semi detached) gutted and redid the whole house. They started at about 8.30 every day in the week which was fine as we had already left for work. Then one Sunday morning, fast asleep in bed, ten to 8 they actually started drilling on the other side of the bedroom wall!! I screamed 'it's fucking 8am on a Sunday morning' and banged on the wall and they stopped till 11am Wink

I will strum my bush area whenever I feel the urge thank you Grin

BackforGood · 20/08/2017 22:47

8:30 is perfectly sensible. Kids will be awake, it's not unreasonable to assume adults will be.

Er, my kids won't be awake then (unless at work on the early shift) as it's most likely they haven't go home until about 4am.
People shouldn't assume everyone else keeps the same time as them. OP has explained that the noisy neighbour doesn't just have this small window to do the job - he's off for several weeks, so can presumably find a better time. I don't think it is reasonable to do the noisy jobs like that before about 10am, nor be making much noise after about 8pm. I may well be awake earlier in the morning and later at night, but it can't be too big a stretch of the imagination to know that a lot of people keep different hours from yourself. If you need to garden before the crack of dawn, then start with weeding or pruning or harvesting or something that doesn't annoy others

strum Grin

YANBU

scaryclown · 20/08/2017 22:57

If my neighbour strummed her bush too early, I would definitely drill her wall as early as I could next time..

Because you're deciding for every other person in hearing vicinity that is the time that noisy work can commence and they'll be waking up because YOU think it's fine. If you don't like "arrogant" I suppose selfish will do as well.
