To make DH sleep on the sofa?

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 20/08/2017 01:28

I am fully prepared to be told IABU. He has tonsillitis & congestion so he's snoring like the billy-o. I'm being kept awake. Who should sleep on the sofa, me or him?

OP posts:

I'd say you. He is sick and needs his rest and bed is the best place for that. If it's bothering you, you should probably move to the sofa to allow him to recover. It's only kind.

WhereTheFuckIsMyFuckingCoat · 20/08/2017 01:35

Apart from anything else, if he's snoring he's asleep. You're awake. Not really fair to wake him to ask him to move when you're awake.

gamerchick · 20/08/2017 01:36

Yep you as he's poorly.

Well unless he has a habit of kicking you on the settee when you're ill that is.

HoHoHoHo · 20/08/2017 01:38

Definitely you should move. He's sick and asleep and you're well and awake.

lunar1 · 20/08/2017 01:41

He's sick and already asleep, you should go to the sofa.

gluteustothemaximus · 20/08/2017 01:44

Sick, snoring DH - gets the bed

Well, snoring DH - sofa Grin

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 20/08/2017 01:45

Poorly one in bed. So you on sofa. Sorry OP.

Ginkypig · 20/08/2017 02:14

Sorry hippado, he's not well so he gets the bed.

Aquamarine1029 · 20/08/2017 02:17

I think forcing him to sleep on the couch when he's sick is cruel. Poor guy needs proper rest.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 20/08/2017 02:33

YABVU. You should sleep on the sofa if anyone has to; he's the sick one.

MyheartbelongstoG · 20/08/2017 03:09

You should sleep on sofa.

PotteringAlong · 20/08/2017 03:27

You! You can't wake up your ill DH to kick him out of bed!

perper · 20/08/2017 03:45

You're awake, you move!

PyongyangKipperbang · 20/08/2017 03:48

Assuming hat he treats you well and looks after you when you are poorly, then you get the sofa and he gets the bed.

However, if he does the dying fly routine whenever he has a slight cold and doesnt give any help pr sympathy when you are ill, then he gets the sofa

highinthesky · 20/08/2017 03:53

Why does it have to be the sofa? Can't you share with the kids instead?

I prefer this as it means you won't be pestered for sex = guaranteed good night of rest.

Sarikiz · 20/08/2017 06:06

Your husband is sick .
You should sleep on the sofa.
Dont you have another bed?

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 20/08/2017 06:12

You. He is ill and asleep.

Would you seriously wake someone up who is ill to make them go and sleep on the sofa? Hmm

SleightOfHand · 20/08/2017 06:25

You.

strawberrisc · 20/08/2017 06:26

Really?

Henrysmycat · 20/08/2017 06:30

Jesus Christ on a bike! He's ill and asleep and you want him to move to the sofa? What a prised peach you are!

JustMumNowNotMe · 20/08/2017 06:34

I hope ypu went down there, to eake up your ill DH and tell him to sleep on the couch because he's annoying you would be massively dickish Hmm

PenelopeFlintstone · 20/08/2017 06:35

Does he smoke? Is there any other way we can make it his fault so he has to go to the sofa?
And how comfortable is the sofa?

FizzyCherry · 20/08/2017 06:47

My sympathies OP. If it's ANY consolation, my DH has severe Hayfever, worse this year by a long way, for some reason.
He gets prescribed antihistamines that are nearly 20 times stronger than the over the counter ones.
He STILL snores, coughs and splutters for most of the night.
But he can't take anything else, there's nothing more he can have, and he's been to the doctor's eight times.

I haven't had a full night's sleep since mid March, should be OK again late September, maybe.

Can't sleep on the sofa as we have 2 two-seaters.

Ear plugs don't block it out enough.

Waiting for some miracle cure.....

ImListening · 20/08/2017 06:50

You

swingofthings · 20/08/2017 06:51

You. He can't help it and needs a good night sleep to recover more than you.

But he can't take anything else, there's nothing more he can have, and he's been to the doctor's eight times.
Not medical advice but I've suffered with allergies for years and although mainly controlled by antihistamine, it got to the point when it just didn't do the trick any longer and I became desperate. New GP finally suggested steroid drops. They are now available over the counter (need to ask pharmacist). They are safe. It took a couple of weeks to start working though, but what a difference it's made to my life.

Really sympathise with you and your OH.
