We are off to blackpool in sept mid week for one night away. We have booked our hotel and train tickets for 80 for both so they are paid for.

Do you think £100 will cover expenses for two days or AIBU.

Bit more info theres me my DH DS whos 2 1/2 and DD will be 12 weeks. We arent looking to go up the tower or go to the fair so thats a fortune saved already.

Any cheap fun ideas to do while there?

You can go in the lifeboat house, it's free and kids love it

Also download the blackpool pleasure beach app, it has a game on it you can play to win free wristbands for Blackpool pleasure beach. I currently have 7 bands waiting to be used

It sounds like plenty, DH and I often do it on a tighter budget than that. Fill up on breakfast, take some snacks. There are pubs that do cheap meal deals like Yates/Weatherspoons or fish and chips. Trams to see illuminations (just be aware that you need a specific ticket for the special trams that are all lit up or the vintage one not just your normal tram day ticket) Beach and piers are nice North pier is less glitzy with less attractions but has an old carousel at the end so less pestering from kids for money spending on attractions.

Becuase your dc are so young I think it's doable!

Take snacks with you for the toddler
Take wine for your hotel room
I would have breakfast at the hotel as that will fill you & toddler up a lot longer than a porridge pot will.
Do your research online for someone nice to eat dinner that is reasonably priced.
Look for any discount vouchers for any attractions, just incase the weather isn't great.
Toddler will love 2p machines in the arcade
Hopefully your be able to get on the beach
Toddler will probably love a tram ride

Your have a lovely time

Weatherspoons for dinner is v cheap

Mummaofboys · 19/08/2017 16:39

mid September you can easily have a great time for £100 with out scrimping, weatherspoons for breakfast lots of different weather spoons throughout Blackpool, Blackpool tower is free to enter just need to purchase a advance ticket to go up the tower with 4d experience £10.50 per adult when purchased in advance then off to coral island fome some old fashioned arcade fun, the Illuminations will be on during September so I'd get fish and chips for tea at 'Top Chippy' (best chippy in Blackpool) and walk through the illuminations for combined evening meal and evening entertainment. Illuminasia is rubbuish btw.

MumOfTwoMasterOfNone · 19/08/2017 16:46

Illuminasia is worth going to for £5 for your children's ages. I think under 3s are free?

Have you thought about merlin annual passes if you would use them throughout the year? Merlin have quite a lot of attractions in bBlackpool now so it can work out good value, especially as your children don't need a pass.

Admittedly I don't know anything about Blackpool but I recently did a 3 night stay with me and 3 kids and took £150 spending money and came home with change :)

We were lucky with weather so did free walks, parks etc. Filled up on buffet breakfast, bought supermarket drinks, bread rolls and crisps for lunch and did cheap dinner (wetherspoons, McDonald's, street food). My budget even allowed for wine in the hotel for me one evening. We didn't spend anything on activities though as weather permitted outdoor free stuff.

it was a lovely short break.

Picnic lunch to take with you.

Fish and chips for dinner.

We usually do porridge pots for breakfast when in a hotel with the kids. That and a banana each fills them up nicely.

Then a bakery or supermarket for lunch or boots meal deal.

If you look on kellogs cereal bars there's 2 for 1 offers on things in Blackpool. Tesco club card do offers on the zoo which is fab and Stanley park is right there which is free. Arcades for 2p machines are good , the south pier has rides for little ones that you can buy individually rather than having to buy an expensive wristband from the pleasure beach. I've found if you head toward the south end (pleasure beach) cafe's and chippys are a bit cheaper than near the tower.

MrsMotherHen · 19/08/2017 18:21

i will deffo look out for the kellogs vochers means we can do the aquarium aswell all for about £17.
The hubby wants us to take porridge pots and bananas which will be plenty for us and the toddler.
