To not let my neighbour move? (lighthearted)

My H left me just over a month ago and the street I live on has rallied round.

My next door neighbour is particularly lovely. DD has a few issues and she's always complimenting me on her behaviour, says she never hears her apart from when she's going to Nursery in the morning when she gets a bit excited because she loves Nursery, but she doesn't mind because DD is only 2 and according to neighbour "hearing a child happy is the best sound ever".

She brings me cake when she bakes and invites me round for BBQs as her garden is bigger than mine as mine has a ramp for wheelchair access (DD may end up in a wheelchair eventually).

She's just come round with a plate of 5 iced donuts, homemade of course, and told me she's moving next week Sad only to the next road, so I can still see her if I want to, but she's down sizing as it's just her and her husband now.

AIBU to tell her she can't move as I'll miss her too much? Grin I'm also worrying slightly about who'll move in as DDs issues mean she's a nosier than normal toddler and although these are adapted bungalows so you'd hope everyone would understand, you never know do you?

What can I do to keep lovely neighbour?

YADNBU she sounds lovely

Can you stipulate that she can only sell to someone as lovely as her?

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 19/08/2017 10:24

Lovely neighbours are the best!
We should downsize like your neighbour but I don't want to live next door to new strangers

chitofftheshovel · 19/08/2017 10:28

Gaffer tape is your freind here, ive seen it hold cars together it will surely keep her down long enough.

PeppaPigObsession · 19/08/2017 13:05

Glum The bungalows we live in are Housing Association so she doesn't get to choose who moves in after her Sad

I have my gaffer tape and super glue at the ready!

You'll have to follow her and evict her new neighbours then, it's the only way!

"I'm sorry Jane, that doesn't work for me. Ask me again in a year and I'll let you know if it's ok for you to go"

I moved recently and I really miss my old neighbours, they were cracking

AllThe Might just try that response Grin
